Presales Consultant

Elevate Your Professional Impact - If you're looking to take the next step in your career, this role is an opportunity to move beyond traditional pre-sales and become a trusted advisor to customers navigating complex technology decisions.

Location: Melbourne CBT

How You'll Make a Difference

The Pre-Sales Consultant – Cloud, Network & Security leads customer discovery, shapes solutions and supports opportunities from initial engagement through to delivery handover. In addition to the core pre-sales remit, the role manages assigned customer relationships, actively develops a pipeline of prospective customers, works on shared leads, contributes to account planning and maintains commercial momentum across the sales cycle.

This role suits a commercially minded technology professional who built a strong technical foundation early in their career and has since developed the sales acumen, consulting presence and business judgement required to influence customer decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain a qualified customer and opportunity pipeline by generating new prospects and promptly working on shared leads from sales, marketing, referrals and technology partners; qualify, nurture and progress these opportunities through the sales cycle.

• Contribute to account plans by identifying customer priorities, key stakeholders, whitespace opportunities and agreed actions.

• Manage customer relationships and act as a consistent point of contact across active opportunities.

• Lead customer discovery sessions to understand business priorities, technical environments, constraints and desired outcomes.

• Translate customer requirements into compelling solution concepts across cloud, networking, cybersecurity and managed services.

• Collaborate with delivery specialists and vendors to validate solution feasibility, cost, risk, dependencies and implementation approach.

• Deliver customer presentations, demonstrations and workshops that connect technical capability with commercial outcomes.

• Develop solution presentations, proposals, statements of work, high-level designs, scope assumptions and responses to tenders or requests for proposal.

• Support value-based selling, objection handling and commercial discussions while balancing customer outcomes, competitiveness, delivery quality and margin.

• Build trusted-adviser relationships and maintain customer engagement through the opportunity lifecycle.

What You'll Bring

• Strong technical grounding gained early in your career in one or more of cloud platforms, enterprise networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems engineering or solution architecture.

• Demonstrated pre-sales, solution consulting, technical sales or customer-facing consulting experience within the technology sector.

• Experience managing customer relationships and contributing to account plans, pipeline development and sales forecasts.

• Experience contributing to proposals, tenders, presentations, solution designs, scope documents and pricing inputs.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and current technical or vendor certifications are highly regarded.

• Strong sales acumen, including account development, opportunity qualification, value-based selling, stakeholder mapping, objection handling and support for commercial negotiations.

• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and communicate them confidently to business, technical and executive stakeholders.

• Commercial judgement and the ability to align customer outcomes with feasible, supportable and profitable solutions.

• Excellent facilitation, presentation, written communication, influencing and relationship-management skills.

• Broad understanding of public, private or hybrid cloud; network architecture and connectivity; and security controls, platforms and services.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

You will combine technical credibility with a consultative, sales-oriented mindset. You will help customers make confident technology decisions, develop strong customer relationships, build and progress a healthy qualified pipeline from both self-generated prospects and shared leads, and improve the quality and speed of sales pursuits while ensuring solutions are clearly scoped and positioned for successful delivery.

If you are a technically grounded pre-sales professional who can connect customer needs, solution value and commercial outcomes, we would welcome your application.
