Senior full-stack engineer at LiveEO in Berlin (hybrid) building applications that combine deep learning and satellite data to fight deforestation, monitor infrastructure, and respond to disasters. Day to day: shipping end-to-end features for large geospatial datasets, owning the public API, and driving agentic development using React/TypeScript, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.
You will work on applications that use deep learning and satellite data and other data sources to help companies and governments fight deforestation, monitor critical infrastructure, and respond faster and more precisely to natural disasters. Our aim is to empower any user in the world to harness the power of earth observation satellites to simplify and improve their daily work.
As one of the most senior engineers on our product team, you will architect, design and implement new features and refactorings from initial idea to production release and then monitoring and maintenance, often in temporary cross-functional squads. Concrete topics you would work on are, for example, the rendering and querying of large volumes of geospatial data efficiently in mobile app, browser and backend, writing the database queries that make that fast, implementing smart logic on this data and building integrations for the growing number of third-party consumers of our services. Key responsibilities
Our development lifecycle is a pragmatic scrumban: structured enough to coordinate, loose enough to move fast. Engineers here have real autonomy - you will make plenty of decisions yourself, and you will have senior engineers to think out loud with on the ones that carry more weight. Asking is normal here, at every level.
We take agentic development seriously but we are, sometimes painfully, aware of its limits. Tickets with solid acceptance criteria become agentic specs that agents implement in test-driven setups. Code review is a mix of agent and human - whichever is most effective for the change at hand. We ship to production at least weekly. And we actively encourage engineers to keep coding and debugging manually to stay sharp; the goal is augmented engineers, not engineers who've forgotten how to program.

Key responsibilities
- Build and extend features end-to-end that handle large volumes of geospatial data, with attention to UX and design
- Architect and build services that integrate large amounts of heterogenous data to enable users to prioritize a vast number of competing tasks
- Own the next major evolution of our public API
- Drive the continuous development of our agentic solutions
- Lead cross-functional teams, driving new feature developments from very early in a topic, through discovery, design, architecture to release and maintenance. Take real ownership

Stack
- Frontend: React, Typescript
- Backend: NestJS, Prism, Typescript
- Database: PostgreSQL (including geospatial workloads)
- Infrastructure & CI/CD: Gitlab
- Expert backend experience with ideally NestJS, Express, or Node.js
- A very good understanding of cloud architecture
- Solid TypeScript and React in production (Vue, Preact or Angular also fine — we care that you know a component model well, not which one)
- You've used AI-assisted coding in your actual day-to-day, not just tried it once
- Spec-driven or test-driven development, agentic or otherwise
- Python - even better if you were previously exposed to many other different programming paradigms
- Web-based geospatial / GIS work
- An eye for design and UX — enough to make small design calls without needing a mockup for everything
- The opportunity to create a product that can improve business processes and lives across the globe.
- Flexible working hours and hybrid work model - we trust our employees to get their work done while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- We empower employees to drive their own career development, take initiative and have the freedom to be creative and bold.
- Not an overtime culture - we take care that overtime is done only as a necessity and always offset with time off and rest.
- A collaborative and learning environment - frequent internal workshops, knowledge sharing sessions, journal clubs and hackathons.
- Office located in the centre of Berlin Kreuzberg with free fruit, nuts and drinks.
- Potential to participate in the employee stock option program.
- Urban Sports membership and BVG subsidy, corporate pension program.
- A diverse and vibrant international environment of 30+ different nationalities.
