You & your role

Shape the future of operations as Product Owner Tech4Ops by owning a strategic product domain within Tech4Ops. Translate the product vision into a clear roadmap and well-prioritized backlog, balancing customer needs, operational excellence, technical sustainability, security and compliance, business priorities, and innovation opportunities while maximizing value for customers, engineers, and Rabobank.

Our mission is clear: minimize disruptions, maximize operational efficiency, enable compliance, and reduce operational overhead through standardization, automation, observability, security monitoring, and intelligent remediation.

Examples for practices

• Define and continuously evolve the product vision and strategy, translating strategic ambitions into a roadmap with a 12-month horizon.

• Prioritize the backlog to maximize customer and business value, deciding what functionality is delivered and when.

• Drive data-driven decision making, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement of operational efficiency and engineer experience.

Facts & figures

• 36 or 40 hours per week

• Roadmap with a 12-month horizon

• 9.5 million customers worldwide

Top responsibilities

• Engage stakeholders across business and technology, aligning Product Owners, Chapter Leads, Architects, Security, Operations, and Engineering teams.

• Enable the squad with focus, transparency, Agile ceremonies, and the ambition to move beyond incremental improvement toward transformation.

• This Product Owner position is part of the Tech4Ops Area within the Tech4Engineering Tribe, reports to the Area Lead Tech4Ops, and is based in Utrecht / Hybrid. The role operates in a complex ecosystem with organization-wide impact and considerable autonomy.

Together we achieve more than alone

We believe in the power of differences. It is precisely by combining people's differences that we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you add to our team of Tech4Ops Area.

'Together, we are building the capabilities that enable resilient, observable, secure, and increasingly autonomous technology platforms.' Tech4Ops Area.

The people of Tech4Ops Area enable operational excellence across Rabobank by delivering services and platforms that support monitoring, observability, security, incident response, and operational resilience. Collaboration is our approach; as one technical team within Rabobank, we reduce operational burden, empower engineers, and help Rabobank remain stable, secure, and innovative.

Work on yourself and the world around you at the same time

For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That's why we want to invest in you and work together for a better world. We summarise this in one sentence: 'At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you at the same time.'

You'll see this reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid working environment, and a healthy balance between work and home. You can work on banking services for our private and business customers, as well as societal issues such as food and energy transitions.

Why everyone is welcome at Rabobank

At Rabobank, we believe we become stronger through people who complement each other. By embracing our differences, we bring out the best in one another. We seek diversity in areas such as knowledge, skills, and experience, but also in gender, background, and culture. Across every department, we strive for variety and the freedom to be yourself - whoever you are. That's what diversity and inclusion at Rabobank is all about.

You & your talent

You are a decisive Product Owner who understands that focus creates value.

You dare to challenge assumptions, say "no" when needed, and make difficult trade-offs. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and continuously look for opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve.

You are energized by solving complex challenges and bringing people together around a shared ambition.

Most importantly, you believe that engineers should be able to focus on creating customer value instead of spending their time managing operational complexity. That belief is at the heart of Tech4Ops and our journey towards ZeroOps.

• Proven experience as a Product Owner in a complex Agile organization.

• Experience managing products with significant business and technology impact.

• Experience with platform, operational, engineering, observability, security, or technology products.

• Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple organizational layers.

• Strategic thinking, decision-making, storytelling, and influencing.

• Change agility, professional collaboration, and leadership without hierarchy.

Apply

To ensure that we assess all candidates equally for suitability for this position, we do not require a mandatory cover letter. Instead, we ask all candidates the same three questions to see how your profile matches the role. Please pay sufficient attention to answering these questions and explaining your answers; together with your CV, these responses form the basis for our evaluation in this round. Submitting both a CV and answers to the three questions is the minimum requirement to be considered in the selection process. A cover letter is not mandatory but may be submitted optionally.

You may draw on your work experience, volunteer work, education, private life, and so on. Use a maximum of 200 words per question and provide no more than two examples. Below are the questions:

1) Can you share an example of how you defined and executed a product strategy for a complex platform (e.g., observability or security) while balancing short-term operational needs?

2) How have you managed a large span of control and influenced senior stakeholders to drive alignment and behavioral change across multiple teams or areas?

3) Describe a situation where you led a transformation - what challenges did you face, and how did you ensure adoption of new ways of working (e.g., DevOps or S@S)?

Please submit these answers in the application section titled 'Add your cover letter (optional)' on the website portal.
