About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.
Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM
Toyota is redefining what it means to move. We're challenging the current state of mobility by enhancing the movement of people, goods, information and energy. Centered around three core concepts - A Living Laboratory™, Human-Centered, and Ever Evolving City™ - Woven City serves as a test course for mobility to fulfill our purpose of well-being for all.
We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the future of mobility to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city.
In the field of information mobility, we are developing products with the goal of creating new value in mobility. Our mission is to create businesses and products that not only enhance product value but also transform “lifestyle value” itself by revolutionizing the way information is delivered, thereby contributing to the mass production of happiness. In the field of information—which holds endless possibilities—let’s work together to expand the definition of mobility and create a new chapter in history.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
This position offers an extremely exciting opportunity to create new products and services for our customers. We are working on the development and validation of new communication systems with the aim of driving “innovation in remote communication” and “creating new value through new ways of moving information.” In our current project, there is an urgent need for a role — a Product Owner — who can bridge customer value and technical feasibility, and shape the product into a highly refined business offering. To that end, we are seeking a hybrid Product Manager who has a technical background as a software engineer, while also being capable of leading product value definition, PoC planning, and business model design. We are looking for someone who can define their own “questions” in a highly uncertain and rapidly changing environment, engage persistently in dialogue with many internal and external stakeholders, and guide the product toward business success with passion and conviction. This position reports to the Lead or Sub Function Lead and follows a hybrid work arrangement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position will lead development in collaboration with UX designers and engineers, ensuring alignment among user acceptance, business objectives, and technical feasibility, while balancing innovation with executability
- Plan product strategy and direction based on the customer value proposition, and define software and hardware requirements
- Design pricing strategies, new revenue models, business structures, and partnership schemes for new-concept services, while driving the transition from an implementation-based business to a scalable model
- Develop the product go-to-market strategy, set short- and mid-term goals, lead the team, and drive achievement of those goals
- Clarify the project scope and objectives while engaging all relevant stakeholders, and work closely with engineering teams during the development and operation phases to ensure technical feasibility
- Contribute to establishing and refining best practices, tools, and methodologies related to business analysis and strategic planning
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote cross-functional synergies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in product management, new business development, or technical project management
- 3+ years of hands-on engineering experience in software and/or hardware domains
- Ability to translate hypotheses and experiential value into business concepts
- Adaptability to change and a strong sense of ownership
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Japanese: business level
- English: business-level reading and writing skills, with basic English conversation skills
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience in product development and commercialization using AI/LLMs, computer vision technologies such as image recognition and handwriting recognition, or multimodal interfaces
- Experience launching products that combine software and hardware, such as IoT devices or smart home products
- Planning experience from both B2B and B2C perspectives
- Experience developing sales strategies and marketing plans
- Analysis of the scalability of a business that can be expanded across various industries seeking “communication innovation,” rather than focusing solely on a single product
