Operations Delivery Manager

Working with the AA | Me mahi tahi tatou ki AA

For over 120 years the AA have been helping Kiwis on their adventures! Today, we're one of New Zealand's most respected and trusted brands. From our humble beginnings as a motoring enthusiast's club, the New Zealand AA (Automobile Association) has grown into a large, dynamic organisation offering many services and products to more than a million Members.

And now, we’re building the organisation of the future – more connected, modern, and purpose-driven. We are a business in transformation, with opportunities to work cross-functionally, grow new skills, and make a meaningful impact. We’re investing in our people, platforms, and ways of working to stay ahead of what our Members and customers need.

What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga

As an Operations Delivery Manager (Internally known as a Delivery Manager), you’ll play a key role in leading the operational delivery of AA Mobility services across your region. You’ll have a core group of Wellington‑based direct reports, while also being accountable for leading relationships across a large, diverse, and geographically dispersed network of contractors and operational partners.

This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role with real scope and autonomy. You’ll be expected to show strong visibility, accountability, and ownership for your area of responsibility - knowing what’s happening on the ground, addressing issues early, and driving practical solutions.

In this role you will:

• Provide visible, confident leadership to your Wellington‑based team while owning relationships across a wider regional network.
• Take accountability for the end‑to‑end performance of your region, balancing service delivery, people leadership, safety, and commercial outcomes.
• Ensure effective and efficient delivery of Mobility services, meeting service standards and customer expectations.
• Contribute to regional strategy, operational planning, and budget management.
• Build strong, credible relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including contractors and suppliers.
• Identify opportunities to improve ways of working and challenge the status quo, implementing practical, sustainable improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to truly own your region - you’ll be trusted with the space to lead, make decisions, and shape how things are done.

About You | Mōu

You’re an experienced operational leader who enjoys breadth, autonomy, and responsibility. You thrive in complex, people‑heavy environments and are motivated by improving how things really work.

You don’t need to come from a motoring or automotive background - we’re open to leaders from other operationally intensive industries who bring fresh thinking and strong leadership capability.

You bring:

• Proven experience leading teams in operational or field‑based environments.
• The confidence to take ownership for outcomes and be accountable for performance across a region.
• Strong relationship‑management skills, including working with contractors or third‑party partners.
• Commercial and financial acumen, including planning, prioritisation, and productivity management.
• The credibility to challenge constructively and reset expectations where needed.
• A practical, improvement‑focused mindset and a willingness to get close to the detail.

You’re resilient, grounded, and motivated by making things better - not just maintaining the way things have always been done.
