Manual QA Engineer (Web3)

About Cowchain
Cowchain is a Web3 development company behind PixelVerse, StepApp, RetroBridge, Hybrid, Tenet, and 150+ other blockchain products with $180M+ combined market cap. We're a team mostly based in Ukraine, with some across Europe, fully remote. We build across DeFi, GameFi, cross-chain bridges, AI agents, NFT platforms, and Telegram mini-apps.

We look for people who take ownership, think deeply, and enjoy figuring things out on their own. No unnecessary hierarchy—you talk directly to the founders when it matters. We value what you bring over how long you've been around.

About the role
We're looking for a Manual QA Engineer to join our team and help us ship quality products on Web3 platforms. This is a Junior+ role—we don't chase titles or years of experience, but we do need someone who's actually comfortable in a Web3 environment on day one, not someone who needs private keys and gas explained from scratch.

You'll test dApps, crypto wallets, DeFi flows, and NFT platforms, alongside mobile apps and AI-powered tools. Every task involves a chain somewhere—if that idea makes you nervous rather than curious, this probably isn't the right fit.

What you'll do

• Test Web3 products across the full QA cycle: functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory
• Read PRDs and user stories, then design and write test cases on your own
• Test wallet connections, transaction flows, network switching, and on-chain state (balances, confirmations, transaction hashes)—not just "clicked and it worked"
• Write bug reports the dev team can act on without follow-up: steps to reproduce, expected vs actual, severity/priority, environment, and (for on-chain bugs) the transaction hash/network
• Test APIs in Postman alongside UI testing—because half the bugs live below the surface
• Work closely with developers, PMs, and designers
• Use AI tools as part of your daily workflow (test case generation, bug report drafting, edge case brainstorming)
• Own the quality of what you test, flag risks, push back when something isn't ready, advocate for the user

What we're looking for

• 1+ year of hands-on manual QA experience
• Solid testing fundamentals: clear difference between functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing
• Can take a PRD or user story and turn it into a proper set of test cases independently
• Writes structured bug reports: steps, expected vs actual, severity/priority, environment
• Comfortable with test case management tools
• Confident with Postman: sending requests, checking status codes and response bodies, building collections
• Understands REST basics: HTTP methods, headers, auth (Bearer token and API key)
• Can read API documentation and test edge cases through Postman, not only through the UI

Web3—must have, real user-level:

• Has personally set up and used a non-custodial wallet (MetaMask or similar): importing/creating a wallet, handling a seed phrase and private key, switching networks
• Understands a transaction's actual lifecycle - pending -- confirmed, gas fee, nonce, transaction hash—and can look one up on a block explorer (Etherscan, Solscan, etc.)
• Knows testnet vs mainnet in practice, not just definition—has used a testnet and a faucet
• Conceptually understands common DeFi/NFT flows relevant to testing: swap, stake, bridge, mint/transfer (no need to write smart contracts - you need to understand what you're testing, not build it)
• Open to AI tools—you don't have to be an expert, but you should be ready to make them part of your daily work

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience actually QA-ing a Web3/dApp/crypto product (not just personal wallet use)—this is the single biggest plus and directly affects the offer within our range
• Mobile testing experience—understands what makes it different from web (devices, OS versions, network conditions, store guidelines)
• Basic SQL for data verification
• Prior experience using AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) for QA tasks

What we offer

• Fully remote work from anywhere
• Paid vacation and sick leave
• AI tool subscriptions (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) for your daily work - we're an AI-first team and we expect everyone to use them
• Internal knowledge sharing and Personal Development Plans
• Individual onboarding tailored to your role and project
• Real product variety across dApps, games, AI agents, and mobile apps
