Level 2 MSP IT Engineer

Salary: $90,000 per year

A better shape of MSP role

Work from home as your base, not a desk in an office. Finish at five and stay finished. Take a problem from the first phone call through to a proper resolution, and be the one who closes it.

If that's the role you've been looking for, read on.

About IT Wizards

IT Wizards is an established Queensland managed service provider looking after a long-standing base of clients across a broad range of industries. Our clients stay with us for years because we know their environments properly and we answer the phone.

We're growing, and we're looking for an engineer to grow with us.

About the role

You'll take ownership of client environments end to end — diagnose it, fix it, close it. No ticket ping-pong, no handing work up a ladder, no sitting in a queue waiting for permission to think.

Alongside day-to-day support you'll be involved in real project work: tenant migrations, network upgrades, server builds, security uplift and new client onboarding.

This role is primarily work from home. Client site visits happen when the work genuinely calls for it — either on your own or alongside the director — so you'll need to be comfortable in front of clients and happy to get in the car when required.

Working arrangements

• 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

• No after-hours on-call roster. No weekend work. Anything outside business hours is handled by the director — not passed to you, not shared on a roster, not “occasionally” expected.

• Primarily work from home, with client site visits as required

• Kilometre reimbursement or a fuel card covers your travel

What you'll be working across

• Microsoft 365 — Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune, licensing, security and compliance settings

• Windows Server — Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, virtualisation

• PCs and Macs — Windows 10/11 and macOS endpoints

• Networking — switching, VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs and Wi-Fi

• Endpoint security, patching and RMM

• Backup and disaster recovery

• Project work — migrations, hardware refreshes, network upgrades, site rollouts and client onboarding

• Documentation that's actually kept current

Our stack includes NinjaOne, Bitdefender, UniFi/Ubiquiti and Microsoft 365. You won't need to know every platform on day one — strong fundamentals and good troubleshooting instincts matter far more than a matching tool list.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Minimum 3 years working for a managed service provider. Not internal IT, not a help desk — MSP. This one isn't negotiable.

• Based in Greater Brisbane or within comfortable driving distance. You'll work from home, but you need to be able to reach client sites - we can't consider applicants based interstate or in regional Queensland.

• Strong Microsoft 365 tenant administration, hands-on and unsupervised

• Solid Windows Server and networking fundamentals — you understand why things break, not just which button usually fixes it

• Comfortable supporting both Windows and macOS end users — a number of our clients run Macs

• The ability to work independently and manage your own day. Working from home means nobody is looking over your shoulder, which cuts both ways

• Clear communication with clients, from reception staff through to business owners

• Current Australian driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle

• Full Australian working rights (citizen or permanent resident) — we can't offer visa sponsorship

• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment police check

Nice to have — we'll train the right person

• NinjaOne (NinjaRMM) or similar RMM platforms

• Bitdefender GravityZone or comparable endpoint security

• UniFi / Ubiquiti networking

• IT documentation platforms such as IT Glue or Hudu

• PowerShell scripting and automation

• Configuring and managing AI platforms and agents — Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio or similar tooling deployed into client environments

Certifications are welcome but not required. We care about what you can actually do.

What's on offer

• $90,000 + superannuation

• Home based — your day starts at your desk at home, with client site visits as the work requires

• No after-hours. No weekends.

• A full hardware kit provided — laptop, dock, monitors and whatever else you need to work properly. Not a laptop and a shrug.

• Kilometre reimbursement or a fuel card for client travel

• Training provided and certification costs paid

• Complimentary Snap Fitness membership — usable at any Snap club, anywhere in the world

• Genuine variety — support, projects, networks, servers, cloud and security, rather than one narrow lane

• Direct access to the decision-maker. Your ideas about how things should be done get heard, not filtered through three layers of management
