Graduate Hardware Engineer

Imagine playing games on a graphics processing unit (GPU) that you helped design. That phenomenal opportunity lies ahead of you by joining the Arm GPU Hardware Team in our graduate position. Come and help us construct the GPUs powering the devices of the future! We would love to connect with individuals eager to deep-dive into analysis and problem solving.

At our design centres in Trondheim and Oslo we develop the most shipped GPU in the world, our Mali™ line of GPUs. We encourage a work-life balance where you might combine work with hiking, skiing or trips in our beautiful fjords. All while assembling an innovative team of diverse, creative and highly motivated engineers improving our technology while satisfying the highest quality standards in the industry.

What you could be doing as a Graduate?

As a Graduate Hardware Engineer, you'll join one of our GPU hardware teams in design, verification, or implementation.

• Design work encompasses exploring the design space for our upcoming GPU features and improving power, performance and area metrics.
• A verification role aims at testing the GPU in any possible scenario, for quality assurance.
• The implementation team is responsible for finding an optimal way to place and connect the GPU building blocks onto a single piece of silicon, while meeting timing, area and power requirements.

Our graduates will follow a structured learning journey, building expertise in graphics, GPU architecture, and hardware engineering skills.

We are looking for individuals who:

• Hold (or are on track to hold) a degree by the programme start date. This can be a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant subjects. Candidates with alternative degrees will also be considered if they have relevant experience.
• Enjoy coding and have experience with at least one programming language.
• Are motivated to learn, solve technical challenges, and contribute to innovative technologies.
• Work well in collaborative environments and enjoy sharing ideas with others.

Qualities that will help your application stand out:

• A keen interest in processors, with a good understanding of computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts
• Experience with hardware design and Hardware Description Languages like SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL and Chisel
• Familiarity with hardware verification using formal verification environments or simulation based checking
• Synthesis of register transfer level code for FPGAs or standard cells
• Experience with Linux, Git and continuous integration

Additional Information:

We encourage early applications as we review them on a first come/first served basis. Please provide an academic transcript as part of your application.

Please note that relocation support is available for this role for domestic moves within the country and regional moves within Europe. Visa sponsorship support is also available for candidates who require it.

In Return:

You’ll receive a starting salary of NOK 695,000 (Bachelor level) or NOK 715,000 (Master level) annually, alongside a comprehensive rewards package. As you develop in role, you’ll have clear opportunities to progress within the salary range at Arm. With mid-year and year-end reviews, you’ll have two formal progression windows each year, recognising your growth.

You can also attend our “Grad-teach-Grads” workshops, guest speaker series, and social events to expand your knowledge. If you’d like to get more involved, you can join the Graduate Committee to further develop your planning, networking, and coordination skills.

You’ll be invited to our Global Graduate Conference (GGC) — an annual event where graduates hear from executive leaders, guest speakers, and build lasting connections.

With many of our leaders and technical specialists having originally joined as a Graduate, will you be next?
