Wat betekent dit voor jou?

Our Engineering Enablement Department has a purpose to accelerate our teams worldwide. We strive to provide teams with a set of tools and services to enable them to unlock their full potential. In short, we enable them to deliver quality customer value quickly and autonomously. The tools and services we provide are built with and for our engineering community.

As an engineer in engineering enablement platform (EEP), you build products and platforms for our engineers. You contribute directly to creating a state-of-the-art, self-service eco-system of products and automation. This is a mission you will not take on solo, but as a full-fledged member of the enablement team. Following Inner-Sourcing principles, you will work with users and maintainers throughout the whole organization to fit your ideas into the bigger picture: Accelerate our product teams, so they can deliver quality customer value quickly and autonomously.

Our product

ShadowCat revolutionizes evidence collection by automating the entire process and presenting it in dashboards. Gone are the days of manually gathering evidence. With ShadowCat, the more you align with other engineering enablement products, the more automated your evidence collection becomes.

ShadowCat also provides deep insights into the efficiency of your software development process. By offering access to standardized metrics and definitions through intuitive dashboards, you can easily identify areas for improvement and optimize your workflow. We look at industry standards such as DORA.

Our main responsibilities

• End-to-end develop our data platform built on Databricks & Kubernetes
• Integrate new data sources (test automation results, deployments, vulnerabilities)
• Utilize data sources to develop accurate and reliable metrics through automated processes
• Contribute to the design and implementation of a scalable data platform architecture on Azure
• You are a part of the larger enablement community and help us improve every day
• You work with an "open-source and build yourself" mentality in a corporate environment: inner-sourcing

The recipe for maximum impact

We think it’s important to be part of a high-belonging team; a team where you can be yourself and feel safe, accepted and appreciated. For this job we are preferably looking for someone who brings diversity to our team, in the widest possible sense. Someone who is a great addition to our team by bringing other ideas to the table. Don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either.

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and software development, preferably in large-scale or complex environments
• Deep understanding of modern data architectures and the ability to design scalable, maintainable, and future-proof solutions that align with business goals
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, including designing and deploying cloud-native data solutions
• Proficient in key technologies such as DBT, Python, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Databricks, Go, and SQL, with the ability to select and advocate for the right tools for the job
• Demonstrated expertise in optimizing performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of data pipelines and analytics workloads, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies
• Experience architecting and implementing CI/CD pipelines, building robust scrapers, automation scripts, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates to streamline and standardize deployment processes
• A passion for navigating and thriving in complex, ambiguous environments, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Strong architectural vision and the ability to contribute to the technical roadmap, ensuring the product remains innovative, secure, and adaptable to future needs
• Proven track record of coaching and mentoring engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and knowledge sharing within the team
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

We’re Heijn, food retail reinvents

Albert Heijn goes way back. More than 135 years, to be exact. So for millions of people, food shopping is synonymous with the Albert Heijn brand. We didn't achieve this with a complacent, 'hey, if it works today, it'll work tomorrow' approach, but by continually rethinking our propositions and staying plugged in to customer demands. More than 125,000 colleagues? Check. Over 1,250 stores in the Netherlands and Flanders? Check. The leading online food retail platform? Check, we build, run and love it.

Together we make eating better the easy choice. For everyone!

The world around us has changed, and significantly at that. These changes have impact on the lives of our customers, colleagues and partners. And therefore, also on Albert Heijn. We’re moving towards a new world with new opportunities and challenges. Albert Heijn wants more people to eat fresher, healthier and more sustainable food. Eating brings us together, keeps us healthier and contributes positively to the world. Our mission is: Together we make eating better the easy choice. For everyone!
