The Data and AI Engineer will establish and lead the enterprise data and AI capability for Alder Group, designing data architecture, building pipelines, and developing AI-enabled solutions. This role involves hands-on development of data platforms and reporting frameworks using tools like Power BI, Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Alder Group is proudly celebrating 23 years in 2026, bringing engineering and construction teams together under one roof to deliver high-quality building, civil and infrastructure projects across Queensland and Northern NSW. At Alder, we're not just building communities, we're building the future. As we continue to transform how we leverage technology, data and artificial intelligence across our business, we're looking for an exceptional Data & AI Engineer to establish and lead our enterprise data and AI capability from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing business at a pivotal stage of its digital transformation journey. You'll have the autonomy, influence and support to design and develop the data foundations, reporting frameworks, automation opportunities and AI solutions that will drive smarter decisions and unlock business performance across the organisation.
Reporting to the General Manager - Information, Data & Technology, you will lead the development of Alder's enterprise data platform and serve as the technical owner of our data, analytics and AI capabilities. You'll be responsible for designing the architecture, governance frameworks and reporting solutions that transform business data into trusted information assets, while identifying opportunities to leverage automation, analytics and AI to improve business outcomes. This is a hands-on role where you will participate and lead the initial requirements gathering, options analysis and design phases and then build the data platform, integrations and reporting from ground up.
You're a strategic thinker with strong technical capability who enjoys solving complex business challenges through data. Experience with enterprise data platforms, modern data architectures or data warehousing. Strong skills in data modelling, integration, reporting and analytics. Knowledge of data governance, automation and AI technologies. Experience with Power BI and platforms such as Fabric, Snowflake or Databricks. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. A proactive mindset and passion for continuous improvement. Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is highly desirable.
At Alder Group, we deliver award-winning construction and infrastructure projects that positively impact communities across Queensland and Northern NSW. Our diverse portfolio spans Infrastructure, Water and Wastewater, Education, Health, Commercial, Industrial, Hospitality and Community sectors.
A supportive and collaborative workplace where people are valued, respected and encouraged to do their best work. A genuine "One Team" mindset and focus on continuous improvement. Opportunities to develop your capability, expand your experience and grow your career within a dynamic and evolving business. Exposure to a broad range of technologies, projects and business operations. A structured pathway into systems administration and infrastructure-focused roles. A competitive remuneration package aligned to your experience and the value you bring to the role.
