A hands-on Cyber Security & IT Lead owns the security program and IT operations for a growing Australian brand, reporting to the CTO: maturing security (Essential Eight, ISO 27001), managing the Microsoft stack (Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview), leading M365/endpoint/network IT, and establishing safe AI usage practices. Hybrid role in Sydney.
We’re looking for an experienced Cyber Security Lead to take ownership of cyber security and IT operations across a growing national brand with big plans!! Reporting directly to the CTO, this is a hands-on role with genuine influence and visibility across the business. You’ll own the security space, help shape our IT environment, and play a key role in how we safely adopt AI. What you’ll be doing
Own and mature the cyber security program, aligned to Essential Eight and ISO 27001 principles.
Manage our Microsoft security stack across Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview and Conditional Access.
Own identity, access, incident response and security awareness.
Lead security reporting, risk management and relationships with external security partners.
Provide hands-on IT leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoints, networks and collaboration tools.
Support technology migrations and consolidation across both businesses.
Help establish safe and effective AI usage and security practices.
What we’re looking for
5+ years’ experience in a hands-on security or security-focused IT role.
Strong Microsoft 365 security and Essential Eight knowledge.
Solid understanding of identity, MFA, privileged access and least privilege.
A pragmatic, risk-based approach — focused on real security, not compliance theatre.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Someone who actively uses AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot to work smarter.
