UX Designer on an initial 6-month contract (inside IR35) via Harvey Nash for a major public sector digital transformation programme, hybrid in Leeds with 3 days per week onsite. Day to day: designing accessible, user-centred services — user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction designs within a multidisciplinary Agile team.
Strong experience working as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer or similar UCD role
Experience designing complex digital products and services
Previous government or public sector experience would be highly advantageous
Strong understanding of user-centred design (UCD) principles and methodologies
Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction designs
Experience using research and usability testing to iterate and improve designs
Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design
Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile teams
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Knowledge of GDS Service Standards and GOV.UK design patterns would be advantageous
Responsibilities:
Join our major public sector digital transformation programme on an initial 6-month contract
Work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team designing accessible, intuitive and user-centred digital services
Work closely with User Researchers, Product Managers, Content Designers, Business Analysts and technical teams
Use research and evidence to understand user needs and translate them into effective service experiences
Design user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction designs
Use research and usability testing to iterate and improve designs

We are hiring a UX Designer for a hybrid role based in Leeds, with 3 days per week onsite and the remaining days working remotely. This is an initial 6-month contract, inside IR35, with a negotiable day rate depending on experience. We are looking for someone who can regularly commute to Leeds and contribute to a major public sector digital transformation programme within a multidisciplinary team.
