Job Description

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that has a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our mission to life every day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. We offer our global teams the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping advance science to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges—such as protecting the environment, ensuring food safety, and helping find cures for cancer. Join a team where your work truly makes a difference.

The Role

At our Eindhoven site, we develop and build advanced Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). As a Test Engineer, you take ownership of testing and aligning these complex systems using technical documentation and procedures within a controlled cleanroom environment.

Your key responsibility is to assemble and configure systems by integrating TEM modules into cabinets, followed by alignment, calibration, and performance verification to ensure each microscope meets strict quality standards before shipment. The role is hands-on and varied, including tasks such as handling samples, working with liquid nitrogen, and generating high-resolution images at atomic level. You identify and resolve issues, document results, and collaborate closely with colleagues across production and engineering.

You will join a close-knit team working on different product lines (Metrios, Spectra, Krios, Baseline). Building and testing a system can take several months, and you play a key role in delivering reliable, high-precision equipment to customers.

Your Profile:

• A vocational (MBO-4) or Bachelor’s degree (HBO) is required, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related fields.

• Experience with, or a strong interest in, testing electrotechnical systems (e.g. modules, cables, control cabinets), combined with an affinity for working with computers and a hands-on approach.

• Able to follow technical work instructions; experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics and technical documentation (TPD) is a plus.

• Experience with or interest in tools/programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB, PLCs) is an advantage.

• Comfortable in a high-tech environment; cleanroom experience is a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a structured way of working.

• Proactive team player with a positive, hands-on mindset, good English communication skills, and adaptability in a diverse environment.

Our Offer:

We offer a challenging role within an ambitious, technically advanced, and informal organization. You will work in a dynamic environment where you can make a real impact, with plenty of opportunities to grow: whether by advancing into roles such as Lead Test Technician or Troubleshooter, or by exploring opportunities across departments like Engineering or R&D.

In addition, we offer excellent employment conditions, including:

• Entitlement to a 13th month (equal to one full month’s gross salary)

• Paid overtime, in addition you will receive holiday allowance

• Up to 40 days of leave

• Direct employment with Thermo Fisher Scientific, offering a solid foundation from the outset

• Travel expense reimbursement and a flexible benefits allowance you can use for extra time off, a bike plan, a gym membership and other perks

• Flexible working hours, allowing you to start between 06:00 and 09:00 AM

• Continued support for your personal growth and professional development through training and courses

• A great workplace in Eindhoven with exposure to state-of-the-art high-tech products.

• Our Eindhoven site is affiliated with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement (CAO), ensuring competitive and standardized employment conditions

• An inclusive and collaborative team culture
