Connectivity Point Design & Installation (CPDI) is seeking an experienced Technician to support our state of Maine contract and join our growing team. This position will support the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of network infrastructure for state offices in Maine.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of networking systems and hardware, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while providing a high level of customer service. This role will work closely with project managers, technicians, engineers, and customers to ensure network systems are properly installed, configured, and performing as expected.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain network infrastructure and related equipment.
- Support switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and other network hardware.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and hardware/software issues and identify root causes.
- Perform network testing, diagnostics, and system validation to ensure reliable network performance.
- Assist with the design and implementation of network solutions based on customer requirements.
- Support network upgrades, expansions, and system migrations.
- Read and interpret network diagrams, floor plans, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Document network configurations, testing results, equipment information, and completed work.
- Work with project management and field installation teams to coordinate network installations and ensure projects are completed successfully.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and customers as needed.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving customer issues both remotely and on-site.
- Maintain awareness of current networking technologies, products, and industry best practices.
- Follow established company safety, quality, installation, and documentation standards.
- Travel to customer locations as required, including occasional overnight travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / TRAINING REQUIRED
- Minimum of 5 years of related networking, IT, telecommunications, or technical experience; equivalent education and certifications may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless networking.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity and performance issues.
- Experience with network testing and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and understand network diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of structured cabling and low-voltage systems preferred.
- Familiarity with fiber optic and copper network infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools preferred.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a professional and positive attitude.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel to customer locations as required.
PHYSICAL / WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position may require working in commercial construction environments and customer facilities. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry equipment, work from ladders or lifts, and work in areas such as ceilings, mechanical rooms, IDF/MDF rooms, manholes and other job-site environments.
