Systems Engineer I

Join a company that's reintroducing itself to the aviation community we've helped advance for more than a century. At Honeywell Aerospace (NASDAQ: HONA), we're launching as an independent, publicly traded aerospace and defense company built on a legacy of operational excellence and mission-focused execution.

Our new brand identity pairs that heritage with real momentum, as we build technology that helps pilots navigate with confidence, aircraft operate more efficiently, and operators stay ahead of change. With our systems on board 90% of the world's aircraft, your work here has reach that's rare to find anywhere else.

Focusing on our customers, investing in innovation, and building a culture of accountability and performance is how we're shaping what comes next.

Every horizon. Every mission. Every day.

Honeywell Aerospace products and services are found on aircraft across commercial aviation, defense and space — from engines and cockpit electronics to cabin systems, mechanical components and connectivity solutions. Our technology helps operators fly more safely, reduce fuel consumption, improve on-time performance and deliver a better experience for the people on board.

As aviation continues to evolve, we're also developing systems to support autonomous and supersonic platforms, bringing the same focus on safety and efficiency to the next era of flight. With approximately 36,000 employees worldwide and net sales of $17.4B in 2025, Honeywell Aerospace is one of the largest dedicated aerospace companies in the world. Explore our businesses:

Engines & Power Systems provides the propulsion, auxiliary power and electrical systems that keep aircraft flying. With engines across roughly 120 aircraft types and more than 47,000 APUs in service today, we support operators across commercial and defense markets — backed by an aftermarket network built for the long service life of every platform we power.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated, early-career Systems Engineer I to join our aerospace engineering division. In this role, you will be pivotal to our digital engineering transformation, applying Requirements-Based Engineering (RBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to develop next-generation aerospace systems.

As an entry-level engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary aviation/aerospace teams to translate complex stakeholder needs into robust technical baselines. This position ensures strict verification traceability within an integrated digital ecosystem, offering an exceptional opportunity to build hands-on expertise with cutting-edge digital engineering tools on high-impact aerospace projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Model Development: Create and maintain SysML-based models representing aerospace system architectures, including flight mechanics, structural, behavioral, functional, and interface relationships.
• Requirements-Based Engineering: Support requirement elicitation, analysis, decomposition, derivation, validation, and allocation down to safety-critical hardware, software, and test subsystems.
• Digital Traceability: Establish and maintain digital threads connecting mission-level aerospace requirements to architectural elements, analytical models, and verification parameters.
• Artifact Generation: Produce model-governed artifacts, including engineering documents, interface control documents (ICDs), diagram definitions, and compliance matrices to support formal milestones (TCR, SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with aerodynamics, avionics, structures, and software engineering teams to capture technical data and ensure alignment across domains.
• Safety & Configuration: Adhere to established configuration management guidelines and assist in aligning system models with rigorous aerospace safety assessment processes.

Must Haves:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of professional experience in aerospace systems engineering, or relevant academic/internship project experience in aerospace design.
• Core Concepts: Foundational understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle (V-model), aerospace technical baseline concepts, and standard V&V procedures.
• Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with standard aerospace development lifecycles or safety-critical constraints.

We Value:

• MBSE Tools: Hands-on experience or academic exposure to SysML modeling software such as Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Capella.
• Requirements Tools: Familiarity with relational requirements tools like DOORS, DOORS Next, Jama, or Jira.
• Aerospace Standards: Academic or professional awareness of aerospace standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754B, or military equivalents.
• Certifications: Baseline certifications like INCOSE ASEP or OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP).

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
