Network Systems Engineer
Wyetech is seeking a highly capable Network Systems Engineer to support mission-critical operations within our customer environment. This position operates at the intersection of enterprise networking, cloud infrastructure, and real-time operations, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of systems supporting national intelligence missions.
This is an operations-focused engineering role requiring technical expertise to monitor, analyze, and sustain complex, distributed systems. The ideal candidate thrives in high-tempo environments and understands the importance of precision, speed, and mission continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Infrastructure Support
Monitor and sustain high-availability network and cloud infrastructure supporting mission systems.
Analyze network traffic, system logs, and telemetry to detect anomalies, performance degradation, and potential mission impact.
Provide real-time situational awareness and concise operational reporting to mission stakeholders.
Perform incident triage, root-cause analysis, and coordinated response actions across network and system layers.
Escalate issues with clear technical context, impact assessments, and actionable recommendations.
Develop and execute remediation strategies to restore services and prevent recurrence.
Maintain awareness of evolving network architectures, cloud capabilities, and threat landscapes within the customer environment.
Security, Incident Response & Mission Support
Support secure dataflows and cross-domain solutions, ensuring compliance with Intelligence Community security requirements.
Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, and cloud architects to enhance resiliency, performance, and scalability.
Support incident response workflows and operational reporting within classified environments.
Analyze packet-level data, logs, and system metrics to identify and resolve network and infrastructure issues.
Coordinate remediation efforts across technical teams to minimize operational disruptions.
Communicate technical issues clearly in a mission-relevant, time-sensitive environment.
Systems Engineering & Architecture
Analyze system requirements and support the design, integration, and sustainment of complex network and cloud environments.
Evaluate system architectures and identify opportunities to improve performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security.
Develop and maintain system architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
Support requirements analysis, system design, implementation, integration, verification, and validation activities.
Participate in engineering reviews, interface definition, and technical assessments.
Identify technical risks, system dependencies, and potential operational impacts.
Support configuration management and maintenance of system technical baselines.
Automation, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to operational runbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and automation efforts to improve operational efficiency and response times.
Support infrastructure configuration management and deployment activities.
Identify opportunities to streamline monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
Document technical findings, incident resolutions, and recommended corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives involving network reliability, cloud operations, and system performance.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or related technical professional supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
Five (5) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
Strong expertise in enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, switching, DNS, and network segmentation.
Experience in real-time operations environments, including Network Operations Centers (NOCs), Security Operations Centers (SOCs), or mission operations centers.
Proficiency with monitoring and analytics tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, SolarWinds, or similar technologies.
Experience analyzing packet-level data, logs, and system metrics to support troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems and operational scripting using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, load balancing, and security groups.
Experience with incident response workflows and operational reporting in classified environments.
Ability to clearly communicate technical issues in a mission-relevant, time-sensitive context.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting a Maryland-based Intelligence Community customer or similar national intelligence missions.
Knowledge of cross-domain solutions (CDS), data tagging, and secure data transfer mechanisms.
Experience with DevSecOps, automation, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures and advanced network security controls.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government in classified environments.
Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Security+, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
Experience developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements.
Experience producing technical documentation, operational procedures, and training materials.
Experience integrating and extending Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.
Familiarity with Agile systems engineering and development methodologies.
Experience supporting distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale enterprise environments.
Experience collaborating across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and multidisciplinary engineering groups.

Support verification and validation efforts to ensure system capabilities satisfy established requirements.
Identify technical risks, system dependencies, and potential operational impacts.
Support configuration management and requirements traceability throughout the system lifecycle.
Coordinate with engineering teams, operational stakeholders, and cybersecurity personnel to ensure system reliability and mission continuity.
Contribute to modernization initiatives involving network infrastructure, distributed systems, and cloud-based technologies.

Salary Range: $67.67 to $91.63 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications; and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
