Swing Driver

The Swing Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating company collection vehicles while providing reliable waste collection services. This position serves as a flexible driver who may be assigned to different routes, vehicles, and collection operations based on daily business needs.

The Swing Driver must be able to adapt to changing assignments and schedules while maintaining a high standard of safety, productivity, and customer service. The driver will follow assigned routes, collect and transport waste and recyclable materials, operate collection equipment, and ensure all assigned work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned collection vehicles on residential and/or commercial routes.
• Cover open routes and provide support for other drivers and collection crews as needed.
• Learn and effectively service multiple routes and customer locations.
• Follow route sheets, maps, dispatcher instructions, and daily assignments.
• Operate vehicle controls and collection equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
• Properly secure and transport collected materials.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service.
• Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and crew members regarding route and service needs.
• Report missed stops, damaged containers, unsafe conditions, spills, or other service issues.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
• Complete required route sheets, logs, inspection reports, and other documentation.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT requirements, and operating procedures applicable to the assigned vehicle.
• Meet established safety, productivity, and service standards.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in a physically demanding environment.
• Perform other duties and route assignments as directed by supervisors or management.
