Stylized 3D Environment Artist / World Builder

Stylized 3D Environment Artist / World Builder
Project: Science-Fiction MMO
Engine: Unreal Engine 5

About the Role
We are looking for a 3D Environment Artist / World Builder to help create stylized sci-fi locations and game worlds in Unreal Engine 5.
We need someone who can work on the entire environment, from blockout to final scene, rather than only creating individual 3D models.

Responsibilities:
Create stylized sci-fi environments, player hubs, and game locations.
Work with concepts, references, and creative direction.
Create modular architecture, hard-surface, and organic assets.
Model props, hero assets, landmarks, terrain, rocks, plants, and alien vegetation.
Create and set up hand-painted PBR materials.
Work with textures, trim sheets, tileable materials, atlases, and decals.
Build environments directly in Unreal Engine 5.
Set up materials, lighting, fog, atmosphere, and emissive effects.
Create environments with gameplay, navigation, and player movement in mind.
Optimize assets for real-time multiplayer environments.
Collaborate with game designers, developers, technical artists, VFX artists, and the creative director.

Requirements:
Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5.
Strong 3D environment modeling skills.
Experience creating stylized environments.
Hard-surface and organic modeling skills.
ZBrush.
Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
Substance 3D Painter.
Photoshop or equivalent.
UV mapping, texture baking, and material setup.
Material instances / master materials.
Vertex painting and material blending.
Understanding of optimization: Nanite, LOD/HLOD, texture memory, draw calls, etc.

Ability to work with both architecture and natural environments.
Especially Important Hand-Painted PBR
Experience creating hand-painted PBR materials is required.
This means not just creating realistic Substance textures, but creating stylized materials with manual artistic work, including:
Base color;
Gradients and color variation;
Stylized normals;
Roughness;
Metallic response;
Clear separation between different materials.
Materials should look good and respond correctly to dynamic lighting in Unreal Engine.

Portfolio:
Please provide finished stylized environments, preferably created in Unreal Engine.
We are especially interested in:
Sci-fi or fantasy environments;
Player hubs / towns / settlements;
Modular environments;
Hand-painted PBR materials;
Hard-surface and organic assets;
Terrain / foliage;
Hero props and landmarks;
Breakdowns showing the process from blockout to final result.
It is important that the portfolio clearly shows which parts of the work were completed by you personally.

Nice to Have:
MMO / multiplayer experience;
Open World;
World Partition;
Landscapes and biomes;
Stylized foliage;
Unreal Engine PCG;
Runtime Virtual Textures;
Blueprint tools;
Shaders and environmental VFX;
Performance profiling.

We are not looking for just a 3D Modeler or Prop Artist.
We need someone who can independently create a complete game environment:
Blockout → Modeling → Texturing → Materials → Lighting → Environment in Unreal Engine 5.
The environment should not only look beautiful but also be designed for gameplay, clear navigation, and optimized for multiplayer.
