Strategic Technology Sourcing Manager

Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. It’s a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate, focus, and connect.

This role is based in Sydney, and we’re looking for someone who calls it home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager in Tech Sourcing, you'll take strategic ownership of a high-value, high-visibility supplier portfolio, shaping supplier strategy and governance, and drive long-term value across some of Canva's most critical technology investments.

You'll operate as a commercial advisor to senior leaders, influencing decisions early and shaping how Canva invests in technology. You'll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution - leading negotiations, strengthening supplier partnerships, and helping Canva get the most from its technology spend as we scale.

At the Moment, This Role Is Focused On

• Owning the commercial strategy and sourcing execution across a significant portfolio of enterprise technology and SaaS spend.
• Acting as the trusted commercial partner to senior stakeholders, shaping supplier and technology decisions before commitments are made.
• Leading complex, high-value negotiations, developing clear commercial strategies that deliver measurable business value.
• Developing portfolio, category and supplier strategies informed by market intelligence, technology trends and spend insights to maximise long-term value.
• Building strong relationships with strategic suppliers while establishing governance frameworks that drive accountability, performance and value realisation.
• Proactively managing supplier performance, renewals, commercial risk and strategic relationships across the portfolio.
• Partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Security and technical teams while leading the overall commercial engagement.
• Raising the capability of Tech Sourcing by sharing market insights, improving commercial practices, championing AI-enabled ways of working and contributing to scalable operating models.

You’re Probably a Match If

• You have 8+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, commercial or vendor management, with a focus on enterprise technology and SaaS.
• You have a track record of delivering measurable commercial outcomes through complex negotiations, supplier strategy and value creation.
• You're a trusted business partner who can influence senior stakeholders and shape decisions before commitments are made.
• You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and are comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• You understand SaaS commercial models, enterprise licensing and the dynamics of major technology suppliers, and bring external market insight into your thinking.
• You have experience building strategic supplier relationships, governance frameworks and performance management that deliver value beyond contract signature.

About the Team

Our mission is simple: maximise the value of every dollar spent, while enabling teams to move fast and build what's next.

As Canva continues to scale as an AI-first company, Technology Sourcing plays a critical role in how Canva makes smart technology investment decisions. We partner closely with Product, Engineering and corporate technology teams to shape supplier strategy, deliver commercial outcomes, and make sure our technology investments support Canva's long-term growth.

We manage some of Canva's most strategic technology supplier relationships, spanning enterprise SaaS, infrastructure and platform technologies. Beyond leading complex negotiations, we take a long-term view of our supplier ecosystem - managing risk and building partnerships that help Canva innovate at scale.

If you're excited by technology, thrive in fast-moving environments, and enjoy solving complex commercial challenges, this is your chance to shape how one of the world's leading technology companies invests in and partners with its suppliers.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role isn't measured by the number of contracts completed—it's measured by the commercial and strategic value you create across your portfolio.

• You influence strategic decisions early, and senior stakeholders trust your judgement.
• Your portfolio consistently delivers measurable commercial value through stronger supplier strategies, negotiations and optimisation.
• Canva's most strategic suppliers are well governed, high performing and aligned to long-term business objectives.
• Supplier risks and commercial opportunities are proactively identified and managed.
• Negotiated value is realised well beyond contract signature through effective supplier management and governance.
• You leave the portfolio, and the Tech Sourcing function, in a stronger position than you found it.
