Staff Software Engineer - .NET Full Stack

• We're leading an AI-powered engineering transformation at scale.

• You have full-stack .NET, React, cloud and DevOps expertise.

• Together we reinvent home lending for millions of customers.

Do work that matters:

Within the Manage & Own Crew in CBA’s Digital Home Buying Domain, you’ll help shape the technology behind one of the most important financial journeys in our customers’ lives. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll combine strategic thinking, technical leadership, and hands-on expertise to deliver the next generation of home loan experiences. Working across the full stack with .NET, ASP.NET Core, React, and Next.js, you’ll design and build scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. This is a true end-to-end engineering role where you’ll influence architecture, drive technical direction, and take products from inception through to production with a strong “you build it, you own it” mindset.

You’ll lead through both strategy and execution, partnering with engineers, architects, and product teams to solve complex challenges at enterprise scale. As a trusted technical leader and SME, you’ll uplift engineering capability while remaining close to the technology and key design decisions. From shaping platform roadmaps to advancing software delivery, reliability, observability, and customer experience, your impact will extend well beyond individual projects. Every solution you deliver will help customers manage their home loans seamlessly while supporting CBA’s vision of building tomorrow’s bank today.

See yourself in our team:

At CommBank, technology powers every customer experience, and few journeys are more meaningful than helping Australians manage and own their homes. As part of the Manage & Own Crew within the Home Lending Lifecycle, you'll build the digital experiences and platforms that support customers long after settlement, helping them navigate one of life's biggest financial decisions with confidence. Backed by CBA's world-class technology division, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering, data, AI and digital innovation, delivering highly scalable, secure and customer-centric solutions that impact millions of customers across the country.

This is a team that truly owns what it builds. Operating with a full-stack, full-lifecycle engineering model, you'll be involved in everything from architecture and design through to deployment, observability and continuous improvement. Leveraging AI-powered engineering practices, the crew is redefining how software is delivered by increasing quality, accelerating innovation and enabling engineers to focus on higher-value problem solving. If you're looking for a role where you can shape the future of digital home lending, work with talented engineers at scale, and see your ideas translate into real customer outcomes, this is the team that will elevate your career and expand what's possible.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

• Build and own full-stack solutions – delivering backend services in .NET / ASP.NET Core and modern front ends using React and Next.js, with strong focus on performance, maintainability, and accessibility.

• Work across the full engineering lifecycle – from problem definition and architecture through delivery, CI/CD, observability, and production support in an Agile and DevSecOps environment.

• Design scalable backend platforms – building secure, resilient APIs and services in .NET, applying strong domain modelling, performance optimisation, and operational visibility.

• Deliver complex front-end capabilities – engineering modern web platforms with React and Next.js, using scalable component patterns, SSR/SSG strategies, and performance optimisation.

• Leverage AI in engineering workflows – using AI to accelerate development, testing, and design while maintaining clear guardrails around code quality, data protection, and security.

• Understand AI risks and controls – identifying potential issues such as hallucinated code, vulnerabilities, or unsafe dependencies, and applying strong validation and review practices.

• Lead through technical depth and mentorship – guiding engineers in full-cycle engineering, modern architecture, and responsible AI adoption while maintaining high standards for quality and security.
