Staff Product Designer

About the Company:

Redesign Health is a global venture and applied technology firm focused on building next-generation healthcare companies. We manage venture capital and venture buyout strategies, each powered by an AI operating system and a team of leading technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors drawn from the most consequential healthcare, AI, and software institutions in the world.

Since 2018, Redesign and our portfolio companies have touched the lives of more than 15 million patients, raised over $1.5 billion from premier institutional, sovereign, and strategic investors, and built distinctive partnerships with marquee healthcare organizations and senior leaders around the world. We are headquartered in New York, with offices in Bengaluru, Los Angeles, and Riyadh.

About the Team:

Redesign’s technology practice combines a frontier applied AI lab with deep healthtech investing expertise. Members of the practice have founded companies worth more than two billion dollars and built systems that serve hundreds of millions of patients, providers, and expert users, and run inside NASA, CIA, and 90% of the Fortune 500.

The practice is responsible for Redesign’s technical investments, supports founders with architect-level guidance and more than a million dollars in AI and cloud credits, and builds the agentic operating system at the core of our business. Just as importantly, we help every team at Redesign use that system to become more technical, more creative, and more self-sufficient. We believe everyone is a builder, and that AI can let exceptional operators turn their expertise into software at the speed of thought.

We are a team of founders and researchers, musicians and astrophysicists, caregivers and friends. We prize analytical rigor, intellectual humility, and a drive to learn, build, and teach. We have been working on language models since before they were large, but we still reinvent ourselves every day as technology changes how we work and collaborate. We believe that AI will do more good for humanity in healthcare than anywhere else. We know the most impactful member of our team will be someone we have not yet met, and we cannot wait to learn from them.

About the Role:

We’re hiring a research-driven, product-minded Staff Product Designer to discover, design, and build the agentic products that power Redesign’s most important decisions: the founders we back, the concepts we pursue, the people we hire, the investors we work with, and the healthcare partners we support. This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone who can sit with a user until they truly understand the work, translate that understanding into elegant product, and then build it themselves.

You will own the full arc—from user research, to design, to shipping a working front end with AI-native tools, to the product judgment that decides what’s worth building at all. You will ship with the ownership of a founder, the empathy of a researcher, and the taste of a designer who sweats every detail. You keep current with frontier AI tooling and retool your tradecraft every day. You will join a global team of former founders, architects, and research scientists, and your peers will be among the most senior technical and business leaders at the firm. This is an IC role; you will lead through craft and influence rather than headcount.

What You'll Do:

• Go deep on the user. Embed with our investment, talent, and global development teams to understand high-judgment, often messy workflows from the inside. Run the research—interviews, observation, synthesis—that uncovers what people are really trying to do, and where today's tools fail them. Turn that insight into a clear, opinionated point of view—not on how to wrap tools around today's processes, but on how the work itself should change with the power of AI.

• Design products people love. Take problems from ambiguous to shipped: information architecture, interaction design, and—where it counts—high-craft visual design. You architect interfaces for humans and agents with equal deliberation, treating tools, context, memory, and failure recovery as product surfaces.

• Build, don’t just spec. Use Claude, Claude Code, and modern AI design and prototyping tools to build real, working front ends—not handoff files. You own the frontend, working alongside engineers who handle the backend and the heavier technical lifting, so you close the gap between design and engineering by shipping the interface yourself and raise the bar for what a designer can deliver.

• Own the product. Act as the product manager for the workflows you take on: set the strategy, prioritize ruthlessly, define what good looks like, and measure whether what you shipped actually changed how people work.

• Raise the bar across the firm. Use the work you ship to teach the organization what great, AI-native product design looks like, contribute reusable patterns back to our core systems, and help teammates and portfolio companies build differently.

What You'll Need:

We value and actively seek exceptional talent from all backgrounds and experiences, recognizing that excellence takes many forms. We care less about the specific arena than about clear evidence of superlative peer-relative performance: being selected into high-talent environments, distinguishing yourself within them, earning unusually broad scope or trusted ownership, progressing rapidly, or doing work that changed the trajectory of a team, product, company, or field. While every path is different, we believe the most successful candidates for this role will share the following characteristics:

• You have spent 10+ years designing and shipping software products, with a substantial portion of that time owning user research—you are as comfortable running a discovery interview and synthesizing findings as you are in a design tool. Bonus points for founding a company, building a product from 0-1, or designing for expert and high-judgment users.

• You have a strong design practice across interaction, information architecture, and product thinking, with visual design as a notable strength. Your portfolio shows products that are both deeply usable and genuinely beautiful.

• You have completely reinvented your workflow around AI. You build working front ends with tools like Claude, Claude Code, and modern AI prototyping environments, and you ship interfaces rather than hand them off. Comfort with HTML/CSS and a modern component framework (React or similar) is expected; you don't need to be a career engineer—you'll be supported by engineers who own the backend and deeper technical work—but you do need to build the frontend yourself.

• You bring product management instincts: you can set strategy, prioritize, define metrics, and make the call on what to build and what to cut—often with incomplete information.

• You are drawn to the messy human systems where data, relationships, and expertise combine to predict the future. Bonus points for having worked inside or built software for an investment firm, or having spent enough time around investors and operators to understand how they work.

• Design is one of your passions, but you find deep meaning in some other pursuit to which you’ve devoted your time, thought, and effort: a creative or athletic outlet, a family business, or service.

Who You Are:

• You are a relentless, startup-native builder with a high tolerance for ambiguity and an even higher speed of execution.

• You are obsessive about building products people love. Where others see requirements, you see people trying to do difficult work with imperfect tools. You earn their trust by working alongside them, and you go to unreasonable lengths to make sure what you build creates outsize impact.

• You have an outstanding executive presence and can skillfully elicit critical information about what to build. You help nontechnical leaders understand “the art of the possible,” and they trust you because you deliver for them.

• You hold a high bar for craft and taste, and you believe AI sets the floor, not the ceiling—the last mile is owned by judgment.

• You have thrived in a group of passionate, talented, diverse, and low-ego individuals because these kinds of people love working with you.

• You are deeply motivated to transform global healthcare and see technology and design as the true calling through which you can better the world.

• You have accomplished something most people haven’t: started a company, won an international award, shipped a product loved by many, performed your craft at the highest level, or overcome difficult circumstances to succeed. You have dedicated your life to excellence in your craft.

How We Work:

Our company values are the standards and norms that shape how we make decisions, build teams, serve patients, and partner with one another. They define what you can expect from us and what we expect from every person who joins our team. We share them openly so candidates can decide whether this way of working will bring out their best.

• Patients are waiting: Work with the urgency that patients deserve.

• AI sets the floor: Nothing short of what AI in expert hands can deliver; taste and judgment own the last mile.

• Stack the team: Talent density is our greatest asset; raise the bar with every hire.

• Trust people, challenge ideas: Assume good intent; never shy from rigorous debate.

• Sweat your craft: Take pride in your work; seek feedback to continuously improve.

• Go beyond: Your role, comfort zone, and expectations for what’s possible.

• Be the partner you want: High integrity, responsive, and genuinely invested in shared success.

• No shortcuts: Patient safety, clinical standards, and partner trust above all.

Compensation & Location:

You will work on a hybrid schedule from our offices in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City. We target world-class talent and compensate accordingly, with packages containing a mix of cash and fund equity.
