Staff Product Designer

About Within

Tldr on us: Series B, $91M raised, 7x growth last year.

Digital Transformation gave rise to a $600B consulting Industry. AI Transformation will be 10x bigger and will be delivered through agents. We built that.

Our AI discovers how work actually happens across every team and application, Structures it into a living Context Graph, and Improves it continuously.

ServiceNow mapped 900+ processes in 9 days. DoorDash captured 3,800+ finance operations in 14 weeks. That's not a project. That's compounding intelligence.

OpenAI, Google, DoorDash, and Stripe use Within to transform how they transform. We shipped GPT-4 document chat within 12 hours of OpenAI's API launch.

We move fast, reward agency, and care deeply about our customers, our team, and our mission.

About the role

We're looking for a Staff Product Designer — a senior individual contributor who acts as a force multiplier across Within's product. You'll lead multiple complex, ambiguous design efforts end to end, set the bar for craft and for how design and code work together, and shape how our AI-native enterprise product holds together as one coherent system. Designer first, you bring your designs to life in working prototypes and into the product itself, with engineering alongside you.

We care about your systems thinking, and your track record of shipping — not your degree.

Enterprise software has a reputation for being clunky and hard to trust. Our bet is the opposite: that the most powerful Enterprise AI product can also be the most intuitive. Design is how we win that bet.

How design works at Within

Design at Within is small but mighty, and hands-on. We work in tight loops with engineering and product — no throwing mocks over a wall. Designers own problems end to end and bring their own work to life: you'll prototype with AI tools or in code and help ship the real thing, not just a spec. We care deeply about craft — the states, the edge cases, and the small details that make a product feel finished — and we'd rather get something in front of users and iterate than polish in private. And because AI is the core of what we build, designing for it is the job here, not a side specialty.

What you’ll do

• Own a product area end to end — Take end-to-end ownership of a product area: lead its complex, strategic design problems from problem definition through a real, shipped experience.

• Set the systems vision — Hold the whole product in view and keep it coherent as one experience as it scales — how flows, data, and product areas fit together — anticipating cross-area collisions and designing for them before they happen.

• Define how design and code work together — Bring your designs into the product (with engineering alongside you), use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.) fluently, and establish the prototyping and shipping practices the team adopts.

• Own AI-native UX patterns — Own end-to-end UX for AI-native and agentic workflows — human-in-the-loop oversight, transparency, trust calibration, and the evaluation criteria for what 'good' AI output looks like — contributing to setting the patterns the whole product follows.

• Ground decisions in users and outcomes — Drive product discovery and user research to surface the right opportunities, drawing on both qualitative signals (interviews, usability testing) and quantitative data (product analytics, metrics, experiments). Define and measure the outcomes your work is accountable for.

• Drive design-system strategy in the AI era — Own the design system itself — its components, tokens, patterns, and governance — so it scales across design and code and lets both people and AI produce consistent, accessible, on-brand UI fast. Set the guardrails that keep AI-assisted UI on-brand and coherent as the team and product grow.

• Level up the team — Raise the craft bar through mentorship, feedback, and knowledge-sharing.

Who you are

• A designer who ships and multiplies — Strong design foundation, you build your own work, and you make the designers around you better.

• AI-native in how you think — AI is already core to how you work and reason about problems.

• Exceptional craft and taste — Interaction, hierarchy, states, and edge cases are where you're at your best, and you set the quality bar others calibrate to.

• A systems thinker at product scale — You understand how components, flows, and data combine into one coherent experience across our complex enterprise product, and you see cross-area collisions before they happen.

• At home in ambiguity, high agency — You find the high-value problems, commit to a direction, and move strategy and people without authority.

• You may be a good fit if you have — Extensive experience designing complex software, a track record of leading ambiguous, high-impact work end to end, and examples of raising the bar across a team.

Bonus if you

• Have shipped front-end code — React, TypeScript, or similar — comfortable in the codebase.

• Have set design direction across teams — you've been a force multiplier, not just an individual maker.

• Have built AI-native products before — you've shipped real experiences on top of LLMs.
