CVS Health is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer for its Health100 platform to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI/GenAI applications using LLMs, RAG, and agentic frameworks, with end-to-end ownership spanning backend APIs (Java/Python/Node.js) and frontend (Angular/React) on cloud-native microservices infrastructure.

Position Summary Health100 is America’s trusted front door to health and care. The Health100 platform integrates any participating health plan, PBM, pharmacy (retail and specialty), provider, digital health point solution provider, and employer, and addresses the top health care challenges for the consumer.
We are seeking a passionate and hands‑on Staff Backend Engineer to join a high‑impact engineering team focused on building next‑generation intelligent platforms. This role requires a strong technologist who can operate both as a technical leader and individual contributor, driving the design and delivery of scalable, production‑grade AI solutions. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about emerging technologies, particularly Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic systems, and can work independently while effectively leading and collaborating with cross‑functional teams. You will play a critical role in building AI‑powered applications, leveraging advanced techniques such as prompt engineering, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), model evaluation, and fine‑tuning, while integrating them into enterprise‑grade systems. This role also requires backend API development, enabling end‑to‑end ownership of AI‑enabled application with strong understanding of frontend frameworks (Angular/React).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience)
The typical pay range for this role is: $106,605.00 - $260,590.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
