Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- Participation in out-of-hours on-call incident support on a rota basis.
- Drive adoption of SRE best practices across our cloud estate and help ensure services meet our standards and governance through a dedicated assessment process.
- Work with application teams to onboard services to the cloud and ensure applications meet operational and security needs for production.
- Provide technical direction and support to other SREs, and work with development teams from the design phase to promote good practices and departmental standards for application infrastructure.
- Design and develop techniques to improve application reliability, create runbooks, transfer knowledge across teams, and contribute to ongoing SRE strategy within our Functional and Professional Communities.
- Collaborate with development teams, provide best-practice guidance, and ensure application monitoring is enabled.
- Promote engineering ownership, SRE best practices, and the integrity and maintenance of live services.
- Manage application error budgets agreed with product owners and balance work in line with those budgets.
- Lead investigations and resolutions of major or complex service incidents, ensuring the right expertise is available to respond effectively.
- Assess the impact of change requests with stakeholders, provide technical expertise, and authorise subsequent changes.
- Coach and mentor application development and operations engineers in SRE practices and techniques.
- Review high-priority and major incidents promptly and publish the findings.
- Gather ideas from stakeholders and team members to identify improvements and encourage collaboration and innovation.
- Provide on-call support to help restore services using runbooks or technical experience.
- Reduce toil and increase automation to improve reliability, reduce time to live, and cut spending on repetitive tasks.
