Sr. Systems Engineer (Timing IC-Validation)

About Skyworks

If you are looking for a challenging and exciting career in the world of technology, then look no further. Skyworks is an innovator of high-performance analog semiconductors whose solutions are powering the wireless networking revolution. At Skyworks, you will find a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on global collaboration, minimal layers of management and the freedom to make meaningful contributions in a setting that encourages creativity and out of the box thinking. We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and glad you want to be part of a team of talented individuals who together can change the way the world communicates.

Skyworks offers the industry’s broadest Timing product portfolio of crystal oscillator, clock generator, clock buffer, jitter attenuator and network synchronizer products. Our patented technology combines best-in-class frequency flexibility with the lowest jitter in the industry, delivering quick-turn, customized solutions that simplify board design, eliminate discrete components, and maximize system performance.

Position Overview

The IC Validation team leads all post-silicon activities, including chip bring-up, validation, and characterization of new timing devices. You will play a key role in our New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle, as our products cross from pre-silicon design to post-silicon validation to ensure exceptional product quality and performance. In this role, the ability to quickly debug and resolve performance issues will be critical to delivering world-class products to our customers.

We seek candidates who demonstrate a passion for learning, initiative, curiosity, and engineering ingenuity. A positive attitude and a strong disposition for teamwork are essential.

Position Responsibilities

• Support our Timing Design team based out of the Skyworks Bangaluru office with new IC bring-up, validation, and characterization.
• Test and debug system and block functionality of new timing ICs.
• Perform silicon characterization through the development of robust and reusable tests to determine device datasheet specifications
• Lead the design and development of high-speed PCBs (EEVBs), including discrete analog circuits, used for validation and characterization.
• Assemble and maintain test setups in the laboratory to support validation and characterization.
• Define, develop, and/or acquire software and/or hardware tools in support of silicon test efforts.
• Develop automation scripts to automate data collection, decrease data collection times, ensure repeatable measurements, and generate reports.
• Own post-processing the characterization data, conducting a detailed analysis (we use JMP for this purpose), and then reviewing the analyzed data with the IC design and marketing teams.

Required Experience and Skills

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 3 years of experience.
• Strong EE fundamentals; experience with PLLs, synthesizers, and jitter strongly preferred
• Background in validation, test, or characterization of IC devices
• Extensive hands-on experience with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum/phase noise analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software
• Experience developing automated test systems and validation infrastructure
• Proficiency in programming for test/automation (Python, .NET preferred, or similar)
• Experience with test frameworks and data analysis tools (JMP, MATLAB, or equivalent)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams
