About AKASA
AKASA is building the future of healthcare by developing AI-native solutions for some of healthcare’s most complex, consequential work. Our customers include the most innovative health systems in the country, like Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, NewYork-Presbyterian, Duke, Stanford, and Johns Hopkins. Our customer base represents 1 in 10 inpatient discharges across the United States and more than $180B+ in net patient revenue.
Our products help health systems comprehensively capture and communicate the full patient clinical journey. By empowering health systems to streamline their operations, they can focus on what matters most - delivering quality patient care.
We train internal models and build domain-specific harnesses to power our products and best capture clinical nuance for each customer. We hire people with high agency and good judgment. Everyone here is an owner and builder who is looking to help solve high stakes challenges every day.
We have raised over $250M in funding from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, BOND, and Coatue. Our deployments have been recognized nationally as "one of the most comprehensive real-world uses of GenAI in healthcare finance to date" (link).
Some of our recent recognitions include being named one of America's Top Startup Employers 2026 by Forbes, a Top Healthcare Technology Company of 2026 by Healthcare Technology Report, the #1 most promising healthcare RCM startup of 2025 by Black Book Market Research, and we have been certified as a “Great Place to Work” for the past 6 years in a row.
About the Role
As a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer at AKASA, you’ll work closely with our Infrastructure and Platform teams to manage, improve, and scale the systems that power our products. Your focus will be on ensuring our infrastructure is reliable, observable, and easy to operate — with an emphasis on automation, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll help build and maintain the foundational infrastructure that supports our SaaS applications, including Kubernetes, Terraform-managed cloud resources, and GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines. While incident response is part of the role, the primary focus is on proactive improvements: reducing operational toil, improving visibility into system behavior, and enabling product teams to move fast with confidence.
You’ll also contribute to monitoring and observability efforts, ensuring our systems are well-instrumented and that we can detect issues before they impact customers. You'll collaborate with software engineers to embed reliability best practices across the development lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of hands-on engineering, systems design, automation, and technical mentorship.
The AKASA office is located in South San Francisco. While we support remote work on a variety of teams, we have a strong Bay Area presence across the company. The local R&D teams come into the office every Wednesday for co-working days, which this role will be expected to attend.

Infrastructure Management: Build, manage, and optimize infrastructure using Terraform, GitHub CI/CD, and Kubernetes.
Monitoring & Observability: Create visualizations and alerts that provide actionable insights using tools like Grafana, Prometheus/Mimir, OpenSearch, and Sentry.
Automation & Reliability: Identify manual or error-prone processes and replace them with automated, repeatable systems.
Production Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve production issues across application and infrastructure layers.
Documentation: Capture knowledge in runbooks, setup guides, and architecture diagrams to support operational maturity.
Collaboration: Partner with engineers across teams to drive adoption of DevOps and infrastructure best practices.
Scalability Planning: Help scale infrastructure and monitoring systems to meet growing demands.
Incident Participation: Participate in an on-call rotation and support incident response processes as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Observability: Experience with metrics, logs, and traces using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus/Mimir, OpenSearch, Sentry, or similar.
Infrastructure as Code: Proficient with Terraform, Kubernetes, and containerization tools.
Programming Skills: 5+ years of experience with Python.
Linux Systems: Comfortable working with Linux-based environments and writing shell scripts.
Communication: Strong collaboration skills with a focus on asynchronous, written communication.
Documentation: Commitment to clear, comprehensive documentation and process standardization.
Initiative: Self-starter mindset with a proactive approach to solving operational challenges.
Version Control: Skilled in Git/GitHub-based workflows.
Nice to haves
Cloud Experience: AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure cloud infrastructure management.
