This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Network Architect based in the United States.
We are seeking a seasoned network architecture professional to lead the design and evolution of complex enterprise networking and security infrastructure. In this fully remote, full-time role, you will shape scalable, secure, and highly available network solutions across on-premises, cloud, data center, and hybrid environments. You will establish architectural standards, guide strategic modernization initiatives, and ensure technology investments align with business objectives. Working closely with cloud, security, infrastructure, and application teams, you will deliver resilient connectivity and optimize network performance. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, manage strategic vendor relationships, and provide technical mentorship to engineering teams. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide technology strategy while solving challenging infrastructure and security problems.
Accountabilities
- Design enterprise network architectures: Develop scalable, secure, and highly available LAN, WAN, data center, cloud, and hybrid network solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
- Establish architecture standards: Define network design principles, technical standards, best practices, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps to ensure consistency and long-term scalability.
- Lead modernization initiatives: Drive large-scale network transformation, infrastructure migration, optimization, and technology refresh projects across enterprise environments.
- Provide advanced networking expertise: Design and guide implementations involving BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, VXLAN/EVPN, VPN, Quality of Service (QoS), firewalls, and load balancers.
- Architect cloud connectivity: Design and support Azure and other cloud networking environments, including secure hybrid connectivity between cloud platforms and on-premises infrastructure.
- Guide complex troubleshooting: Provide senior-level technical direction for challenging network and security issues, helping engineering teams identify root causes and implement lasting solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies: Assess networking and security solutions based on scalability, performance, resilience, security, operational requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate across technical teams: Partner with Security, Cloud, Infrastructure, Application, and business stakeholders to align network architecture with enterprise priorities.
- Manage vendor relationships: Work with network equipment vendors, telecommunications carriers, and technology partners to evaluate solutions, address technical challenges, and support strategic initiatives.
- Maintain architectural documentation: Produce and maintain network architecture diagrams, design specifications, implementation guidelines, and technical documentation.
- Mentor engineering teams: Provide architectural guidance, share technical knowledge, and support the professional development of network engineers.
- Support strategic decision-making: Translate complex technical considerations into practical recommendations that help stakeholders make informed infrastructure investments.
Requirements
- Professional experience: 12–15+ years of experience in enterprise networking and network security, with a strong background in complex infrastructure environments.
- Enterprise networking expertise: Extensive experience designing and supporting LAN/WAN, data center, cloud networking, SD-WAN, and hybrid network architectures.
- Advanced technical knowledge: Deep understanding of routing, switching, network security, enterprise architecture, and high-availability network design.
- Routing and network technologies: Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, VXLAN/EVPN, VPN, QoS, firewalls, and load balancing technologies.
- Cloud networking experience: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform, including hybrid connectivity and cloud network architecture.
- Architecture and transformation leadership: Proven experience leading large-scale network projects, infrastructure modernization programs, and strategic technology initiatives.
- Security and resilience: Ability to design network environments that meet enterprise security, availability, performance, and scalability requirements.
- Technical documentation: Experience creating architecture diagrams, design documents, network standards, and implementation guidelines.
- Certifications: CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications are preferred. Microsoft Azure networking certifications, AWS or Google Cloud networking certifications, and other relevant networking or security credentials are also advantageous.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: Strong ability to evaluate complex technical challenges, compare solutions, and develop effective long-term strategies.
- Communication and stakeholder management: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain architectural decisions and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
- Technical leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and promote engineering best practices.
Benefits
- Competitive annual salary: $110,000–$143,000, with final compensation determined by relevant experience, qualifications, certifications, internal equity, market conditions, and other applicable factors.
