Hands-on manual software test engineer supporting a mission-critical government web application in Singapore. Day to day: creating and executing functional, regression, SIT and UAT tests, managing defects, validating APIs/integrations with tools like Postman, and coordinating UAT with business users within an Agile/Scrum team.
About the role:
We are looking for a hands-on software test engineer to support the testing and delivery of a mission-critical government web application. You will work closely with developers, project managers, business users, technical teams, and external stakeholders to ensure system functionality, integration quality, and release readiness.
Key responsibilities:
Perform hands-on manual functional, regression, integration, SIT and UAT testing for web-based applications.
Review requirements and independently create test scenarios, test cases, test data, expected results, and test evidence.
Coordinate UAT activities with business users, including scheduling, execution, issue clarification, and follow-up.
Identify, document, track, retest, and follow defects through resolution.
Work closely with developers, system engineers, project managers, business users, and external technical parties to troubleshoot issues.
Test integrations and interfaces with external systems using tools or approaches such as Postman, simulators, messaging/interface validation, and API request/response testing.
Validate data flows and system behaviour across integrated applications.
Maintain clear testing documentation, status reports, defect trackers, and execution records.
Support testing at customer or government agency locations when required.
Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
About you
Hands-on experience in manual software testing.
Good understanding of functional, regression, SIT and UAT testing.
Ability to create structured test scenarios and test cases independently.
Experience managing the defect lifecycle from identification through retesting and closure.
Experience working with both technical teams and business/end users.
Basic practical exposure to API/interface testing, preferably using Postman or similar tools.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Comfortable working with Excel for test tracking, reporting, and basic data analysis.
Able to work independently in a structured, process-driven environment.
Comfortable supporting onsite testing at client/government locations when required.
