Software Engineering Intern - Trusted Artifact Signer (Waterford office, Ireland)

The Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer (RHTAS) team is seeking an Intern in Waterford, Ireland, who is passionate about software supply chain security and has experience with Go programming. In this long-term internship, you will join a talented group of software engineers and contributors from around the globe, working on product development and making upstream contributions to the Sigstore ecosystem. You will be instrumental in improving the overall quality of our Kubernetes-based software product by developing new features, addressing existing defects, and expanding, automating, and streamlining our build and release pipeline. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in software product development, delve into Red Hat’s business, and immerse yourself in our open source culture, including engaging with other Ireland-based interns and participating in Red Hat cultural activities.

At Red Hat, you’ll work in an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, values great ideas, and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully. Freedom and courage are two of our core values — which means you’ll have the space to take risks, explore the unknown, and grow your strengths. But being a Red Hatter is not just about bravery; it’s also about commitment and follow-through.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, full-time internship based in the Waterford office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is January 2027.

What you will do:

• Contribute code in the Go programming language to a collection of several software services designed to be used in our customer’s secure software supply chains

• Participate in team meetings and activities such as agile sprint planning, release retrospectives, and weekly standups.

• Work on production build pipelines, tests and policy compliance

• Participate in the upstream Sigstore community

• Collaborate with other engineers as needed

What you will bring:

• You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027

• Working knowledge of written and spoken English

• Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) tooling and processes

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and software containerization

• Experience with Go programming

• Ability to work with a globally distributed team of engineers, managers and other team members

• Prior experience in open source software projects

Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximize your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities.

Please apply for a maximum of three internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
