NaturalMotion is hiring a Client Generalist Software Engineer in London (hybrid, 2 days/week on-site) to build an unannounced mobile free-to-play action game in Unreal Engine 5. The role spans gameplay, meta, and core tech — designing features, building tools, and fixing bugs end-to-end in C++.
Who We Are:
NaturalMotion is an award-winning UK game studio dedicated to crafting world-class mobile experiences. Alongside our continued live-service development on CSR Racing 2 (#1 drag racing series of all time), our team is stepping into its next chapter with an ambitious, unannounced project. Honoured for eight consecutive years as a GamesIndustry.biz Best Place to Work in the UK winner and named a Top 50 UK Game Maker in 2025 and 2026, we offer a collaborative studio culture backed by the global reach of Zynga and Take-Two Interactive.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Client Generalist Software Engineer to join us at NaturalMotion to help build a new, unannounced mobile free-to-play action game. We have a well-rounded, passionate and tight-knit, distributed team with a healthy mix of engineering skill levels and are looking to strengthen our team in addressing the diverse and complex technical challenges at the core of our products. You will work across gameplay, meta, and core tech, owning features end-to-end rather than staying in one lane. We are looking for someone who is comfortable switching between domains and communicates clearly with design and backend. You don’t need to be an expert in every area. We care more about your willingness to learn, and our team will mentor you as you grow into new domains.
We embrace a hybrid work environment. Within this role, you would work 2 days per week in our London office and the remaining days at home.
What You'll Do:
- Design and develop features and game functionality in UE5
- Develop tools for engineering and content creators
- Define and scope out tasks and systems
- Triage and address bugs
What You Bring:
- Previous experience as Software Engineer in the game industry, using Unreal Engine
- Demonstrated proficiency in C++
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software methodologies
- Strong working knowledge of version control systems and workflow strategies (GitHub, Perforce/Helix Core, Git-flow, branch management)
- Good communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative environment
Bonus Points:
- Mobile game development experience
- Performance profiling and optimization experience
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 version and above
What We Offer You:
- Competitive salary and discretionary annual bonus scheme
- 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays & 2 paid personal days
- 6 months fully paid maternity/adoption leave and 16 weeks fully paid paternity leave (eligibility criteria applies)
- Pension plan, with a double matching employer contribution
- Private medical & dental insurance and healthcare cash plan
- Life insurance, personal accident insurance and income protection
- Mental health and neurodiversity support programs
- Company Employee Stock Purchase Plan (eligibility criteria applies)
- Fitness reimbursement plan, worth £600 per annum
- Flexible working hours
- Weekly happy hours, seasonal parties and monthly social events
- Annual rail season ticket advance and cycle to work scheme
