Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer at Nordiska, you’ll help shape system architecture, deliver complex features, and write high-quality code - building embedded finance where banking meets tech. As part of our AI-first strategy, we aim for 80% of all code to be written by agentic AI systems by the end of 2026, empowering engineers to focus on architecture, quality, and innovation.

Bank at core, innovation at heart

Nordiska is a bank offering a wide range of financial services, allowing us to tailor solutions to each customer while simultaneously enabling them to gain access to advanced financial technology. Part of our offering is our Embedded platform, enabling enterprise partners across Europe to seamlessly integrate financial services into their product offerings. We also provide corporate and real estate financing, as well as sustainable savings with a government-backed deposit guarantee.

To meet future demands, we continuously scale our modern technology platform, expand partner integrations, and accelerate product innovation to help shape the future of financial services.

Working at Nordiska

Since our founding, we have been dedicated to making a difference and driving innovation. We work towards an ambitious vision and goals, backed up by our history of successfully delivering high-quality results and sustainable growth.

Historically and going forward, the people working at Nordiska are what enables our success. We balance our professional environment with an entrepreneurial mindset, always acting with honesty and responsibility, to build long-term trust among customers, partners and employees.

About The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will primarily work with Nordiska Embedded. We combine the best of two worlds - at our core, we’re a stable, regulated bank paired with a product-tech mentality that thrives on agility, curiosity, and innovation. As Nordiska expands into new markets, onboards new customers, builds new products and features - you work closely with the Tech Lead and Lead Engineer to set technical standards and ensure that the team’s output is robust, scalable, and secure. You’ll be an important part of modernizing systems, reducing technical debt, and are a key contributor to system architecture, complex feature development, and code quality.

In addition to your technical work, you'll be a part of fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and being a part of a high-performing team, as we grow.

In the role, you will:

• Drive engineering excellence by defining technical standards, system architecture, design principles, and long-term technology strategy for engineering excellence.
• Deliver high-impact features - implementing complex functionality that meets stringent performance, reliability, and security requirements.
• Drive initiatives that improve performance, enhance scalability, and reduce technical debt.
• Anticipate and resolve architectural bottlenecks, proactively preventing issues.
• Ensure best practices, clean code, testing/observability, and a culture of continuous learning.
• Ensure technical excellence through structured code reviews, consistent application of coding standards, and alignment with established best practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure technical execution supports strategic objectives.

Your Professional Profile

• As a true self-leader, you take ownership and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
• You communicate clearly, collaborate seamlessly across functions, and navigate confidently in a regulated context.
• You’ll contribute to a high-performing and humble team, bringing strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-driven approach.

We believe that you have:

• Mid- or senior-level depth in programming, frameworks, and system design in C#/.NET.
• Expertise in event-driven architecture (EDA) and Azure, with a strong interest in AI technologies considered an advantage.
• Hands-on expertise with architectural patterns, scaling strategies, performance optimization, security, scalability and resilience.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor others and lead by example.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality, large-scale software systems.
• Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

We review and interview continuously, with background checks as part of the final stage of our process. For questions about the role and or more information, you are warmly welcome to contact Lydia Cezar at [email protected] .
