Opening: Software Engineer Intern (Equipment Communication and Factory Automation - Semiconductor Industry)
Location: Orchard, Singapore
INSPHERE TECHNOLOGY is a Singapore-based software innovation company established in 2010, providing SECS/GEM connectivity and automation solutions for legacy equipment/tools in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries. We serve global clients, including equipment manufacturers and end-user fabs, with cutting-edge solutions that enable smart factory integration and automation.
About the Role:
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work closely with experienced software engineers to design, develop, and maintain C# and .NET-based applications used in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
This is a hands-on, coding-focused role that connects software with real factory equipment. You will gain practical experience in equipment automation, real-time communication, system integration, PLC data interfaces, factory host connectivity, APIs, and reusable software components.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance C# and .NET applications under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to WPF desktop applications following the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern.
- Develop software interfaces that communicate with PLCs through supported industrial communication protocols.
- Support the integration of software applications with semiconductor equipment, industrial devices, and factory systems.
- Write unit tests and support system and integration testing activities.
- Build or maintain simulators and test tools for validating equipment, PLC, and factory host communications.
- Debug and troubleshoot application and communication issues in development and test environments.
- Use approved AI-assisted tools to support coding, refactoring, testing, and technical documentation.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, you should have:
- Good foundational knowledge of C#, .NET, and WPF application development.
- A basic understanding of the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools, to support coding, testing, learning, and documentation.
- Familiarity with Windows development environments. Exposure to Linux is an advantage.
- Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A curious mindset and a strong interest in exploring emerging technologies, modern development tools, and current software engineering practices.
- A willingness to ask questions, experiment, learn from feedback, and continuously improve the quality of your work.
- Minimum of 6 months commitment.
- Fresh grads are welcome to apply.
What You Will Gain
- Hands-on experience developing C# and .NET software for real semiconductor manufacturing environments: equipment automation, real-time communication, alarm handling, event reporting, and production-data exchange.
- Experience integrating software with PLCs, industrial equipment, and factory host systems.
- Experience working with APIs, communication protocols, reusable software components, simulators, and engineering tools.
- Guidance and technical mentorship from experienced software engineers.
- Practical experience with code reviews, unit testing, debugging, integration testing, documentation, and modern software engineering practices.
- The opportunity to be considered for a regular full-time position based on your performance, attitude, suitability, and the Company’s business needs.
