Software Engineer II, Gov Systems

The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and building products that establish trust in cryptocurrencies. We're a global organization that thrives on challenging work and doing it alongside exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry evolves rapidly, and our mission is to build a flexible, AI-driven platform that automates entity resolution, optimizes data labeling pipelines, and creates predictive models that identify illicit patterns before they escalate.

Our data and solutions have been used to solve some of the world's most high-profile criminal cases and grow consumer access to cryptocurrency safely. Now, by pairing the industry's most trusted blockchain data with agents that reason, investigate, and act, we help our customers scale their workflows as the cryptocurrency economy becomes increasingly mainstream.

The Government Systems team within the Investigations group ensures that Chainalysis's most security-sensitive customers can run Reactor reliably in their own environments — including fully air-gapped networks with no internet connectivity. Government Systems owns the critical path from "Chainalysis builds software" to "a government customer is running it." Reactor product teams own their application code, but rely on Government Systems to build the installer, deliver data, manage multi-tenant configurations, and provide the admin interface that customers use to operate the system. The team partners with product engineering across the Investigations group, as well as Security, Compliance (FedRAMP), and Customer Success to ensure that every release is reproducible, secure, and customer-ready.

We are hiring a Software Engineer to join the Government Systems team, building the software that packages, delivers, and manages Chainalysis Reactor for government and high-security customers. This role involves writing Go and Java services, building installer tooling, developing data delivery pipelines, and extending an admin portal UI — requiring you to work across the full stack and deeply understand the constraints of on-premises and air-gapped environments to effectively partner with product teams and compliance stakeholders.

This position requires U.S. citizenship due to applicable government operating requirements.

In this role, you'll:

• Design and develop the software installer — a Go-based CLI that automates provisioning, manifest rendering, image bundling, and end-to-end deployment of Reactor to customer environments, including fully air-gapped networks

• Build and maintain the blockchain data delivery pipeline — the Java services that package blockchain data in the cloud, deliver it to customer sites, and unpack it for ingestion into the on-premises system

• Extend and improve the Admin Portal — a React-based web UI backed by a Node.js server that enables customers to manage users, roles, permissions, and monitor system health on their on-premises installation

• Develop infrastructure as code (Terraform) to provision and manage the AWS-based environments used for development, acceptance testing, and data delivery

• Collaborate with product service teams to integrate their applications into the on-prem deployment platform, defining deployment configurations, resolving environment-specific issues, and designing multi-tenancy capabilities that ensure secure isolation between tenants

• Support FedRAMP compliance requirements by designing audit logging, RBAC policies, package signing, and security hardening into the platform — writing well-tested, well-documented code with unit tests, integration tests, and CI-driven quality gates across Go, Java, and JavaScript

We're looking for candidates who have:

• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Go, and Bash for building production software — services, systems-level code, and CLI tools

• Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes — deployments, networking, storage, Helm, and troubleshooting workloads in production

• Comfort working across the stack — from backend data pipelines to a React-based admin UI when needed

• Experience with infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform

• Solid Linux fundamentals (RHEL or similar — networking, storage, process management)

• A strong sense of ownership and effective cross-team collaboration — you write code you're proud to operate, think about failure modes before they happen, and work alongside product engineers who consume the platform and tooling you build

• US Citizenship due to applicable government operating requirements

You might also have:

• Experience building custom Kubernetes operators (Operator SDK or controller-runtime), or with air-gapped and disconnected deployment strategies, OCI registries, and image mirroring

• Experience with data delivery systems — packaging, signing, distributing, and verifying large datasets or software artifacts — and familiarity with Kafka or other event streaming platforms

• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP and their implications for software design (audit logging, RBAC, encryption at rest), or experience designing multi-tenant architecture for secure isolation within shared infrastructure

• Familiarity with React or frontend frameworks for admin tooling, PostgreSQL in production, GitOps tooling (Flux CD, Kustomize, Helm), or interest in the cryptocurrency technology ecosystem

Technologies we use:

• Languages: Java, JavaScript (Node.js, React), Go, Bash, HCL (Terraform)

• Kubernetes: RKE2, Helm, Kustomize, Flux CD

• Cloud provider: AWS (EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFront)

• Frontend: React, Tailwind CSS

• Monitoring and observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Humio

• Database management: PostgreSQL

AI at Chainalysis
AI is not a feature at Chainalysis - it is a new way of working. One that turns instructions into work done, and helps us move faster than the threats we're built to counter, and we expect our employees to take ownership of the output and ensure quality. As the world's most trusted blockchain analytics platform, Chainalysis sits at a rare intersection of proprietary data, regulatory relationships and crypto expertise that makes it uniquely placed to shape and lead the next era of AI-driven intelligence - and we expect everyone here, regardless of role, to be an active part of it.

AI fluency is tied directly to how we measure performance and how we plan to win. There is no substitute for your own curiosity. We provide the tools, workflows, and space to experiment - but the expectation is that you develop these capabilities yourself, bring ideas, and collaborate across teams to reinvent the way work gets done. We are not using AI to do less. We are using it to do what was never possible before.
