Junior-to-mid engineer on a 12-month on-site contract at GovTech HQ in Singapore, building and operating the Incident Response Management platform that secures Singpass. Day to day: Kubernetes (EKS) and Helm deployments, portable cloud-native infra, Golang platform tooling, CI/CD pipelines, TypeScript dashboard features, monitoring, and on-call rotations.
About the Role
You will be a key contributor to the IRM pilot, working under the close mentorship of our Senior
Tech Lead and reporting up to an elite SRE leadership team. You will be responsible for the
'pipes and wires' that keep our unified Incident Response Management (IRM) platform
bulletproof during high-stakes operations securing
Singpass .
This role requires a balance of implementation speed, a passion for automation, and strict
operational discipline. You will help build a highly portable, secure, cloud-native ecosystem on
GCC+
that can easily transition across distinct Kubernetes environments without platform
lock-in.
What You Will Be Working On
1. Infrastructure, CI/CD & Portability
.
.
.
Cluster Operations:
Deploy, configure, and maintain platform services on enterprise
Kubernetes (EKS) using Helm charts.
Portable Deployment:
Implement infrastructure configurations with a strict focus on
portability, ensuring applications can be cleanly migrated between distinct Kubernetes
clusters.
CI/CD Pipelines:
Build and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure safe, automated,
and repeatable deployments.
2. Tooling & Backend Automation (Strict Golang Ecosystem)
.
.
System Automation:
Build and maintain platform tools, custom operators, and backend
logic exclusively in
Golang .
Strict Ecosystem Constraint:
We are a Go-centric shop for all system-level and
infrastructure work. If you rely on Node.js (npm/pnpm) for system administration,
backend logic, or DevOps tooling, this environment will not be a fit.
3. Frontend Execution & Observability .
.
.
UI Implementation:
Develop, refine, and localized user-facing IRM dashboard
components using TypeScript and pnpm, working closely with the Product Manager to
bring UX designs to life.
Platform Visibility:
Continuously improve the monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
of the IRM platform itself to ensure its operational health is always visible.
Operations (BAU):
Take on foundational business-as-usual (BAU) operations and
on-call rotations to guarantee absolute service stability for the Singpass pilot.
4. Engineering Governance & Sprints
.
.
Process Discipline:
Actively participate in weekly sprint cycles, backlog grooming, and
team retrospectives.
Documentation Standards:
Adhere strictly to the team's engineering governance by
actively consuming, participating in debates over, and contributing to
RFCs (Requests
for Comments)
and
ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) .
What You Will Gain From This Experience
.
.
.
Accelerated Technical Growth:
It is incredibly rare for junior-to-mid engineers to
receive formal, rigorous training in large-scale Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and
cloud-native portability. You will leapfrog your peers by mastering a deeply technical,
Go-centric infrastructure skillset.
Silicon Valley-Grade Mentorship:
You will work directly under a Senior Tech Lead and
an SRE Lead ( Xoogler ) who has managed hyper-scale infrastructure for
Google
Spanner, Google Meet, and YouTube . You will learn how world-class systems are built,
documented, and kept resilient.
Resume-Defining Impact:
Having a direct hand in securing Singpass-Singapore's
national digital identity platform-provides you with a high-visibility, Tier-1 engineering
project on your profile early in your career.
What We Are Looking For
Engineering Foundation
.
.
Core Systems:
Strong foundational understanding of software systems, Linux internals,
networking protocols, and cloud-native architecture.
Kubernetes Familiarity:
Hands-on experience or solid theoretical knowledge of
Kubernetes, containers, and Helm.
Language & Tooling Stack
.
Strong proficiency in Golang
(Required for all backend, automation, and systems
tooling)..
.
Proficiency in TypeScript and pnpm
(Required for frontend dashboard features).
Quality First:
A habit of writing clean, well-documented, and comprehensively tested
code.
Culture & Collaboration
.
.
.
Appetite for Process:
Eagerness to work in a structured engineering environment
governed by sprints, code reviews, ADRs, and RFCs.
Communication:
Ability to clearly explain technical trade-offs and collaborate effectively
with both engineering peers and the Product Manager.
On-Site Availability:
Commitment to work on-site at GovTech HQ for the duration of the
12-month contract.
