Software Engineer - Denmark Pool

Building the Backbone of Global Motion: Backend Engineers (Denmark Pool)

Location: Aarhus, Denmark

Disclaimer: Please apply if you are currently based/residing in Denmark only, as we use this posting for local in-person networking. If you are outside Denmark, we welcome your application to all of our other job postings.

At Uber, we don’t just move people; we move the world. But before a car arrives or a meal is delivered, millions of lines of code have to execute in milliseconds. Our Aarhus Engineering Hub is the engine room for some of Uber’s most critical global systems. We are looking to connect with Backend Software Engineers who want to build the future of Infrastructure/Platform and Catalog at a scale few companies on earth ever reach.

Why Join Our Talent Pool?

By joining our Aarhus Talent Pool, you’re putting yourself on the radar for our two most impactful engineering pillars in Denmark:

1. Platform & Infrastructure You’ll build the "foundations of the house." This team ensures that Uber’s global fleet of services is reliable, scalable, and lightning-fast. If you enjoy deep-diving into distributed systems, high-availability architecture, and cloud-native tech, this is your playground.

2. Catalog Platform Uber’s Catalog is the world’s most complex digital inventory. We manage millions of items across thousands of cities for Uber Eats and beyond. You’ll solve "impossible" problems related to data consistency, searchability, and real-time updates at a massive scale.

What We’re Looking For

We value engineering craft over specific buzzwords, but you’ll feel right at home if you have:

• Drive & Passion for Engineering: This is the most important aspect. You have a deep passion for engineering excellence and a strong internal drive to do outstanding work. You naturally seek out challenging problems, learn quickly, and care deeply about craft and execution—consistently pushing for better solutions, systems, and outcomes while thriving in an environment with high autonomy.

• Distributed Systems Experience: You understand how to build systems that don’t break when millions of people use them simultaneously.

• Language Agnosticism: Our primary languages are Go and Java, but we care more about your ability to pick the right tool for the job.

• A "Scale" Mindset: You don't just write code; you think about observability, latency, and how your service behaves at 100x its current load.

• Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a culture of peer reviews, architectural discussions, and shared ownership.

This pipeline is intended for candidates with approximately 2+ years of relevant industry experience after completing their education. The role level corresponds to an L4 position - Software Engineer 2. Learn more about the L4 Uber hiring process and how to prepare here:

The Aarhus Edge

Uber Aarhus isn't just a satellite office; it’s an engineering powerhouse with a "start-up" soul and "Big Tech" impact.

• Global Impact: Your code affects how people move in 10,000+ cities.

• Local Culture: A tight-knit team in the heart of Jutland, where we value work-life balance (it is Denmark, after all) and technical excellence.

• Growth: We invest heavily in our engineers. Whether you want to be a Staff Engineer or an Engineering Manager, the path is yours to build.

Let’s Start a Conversation

Even if you aren’t looking to move today, we want to know the bright minds in the Danish tech community.

If you are not selected to move forward in the process after submitting your application, you may still be a great fit for future opportunities with Uber. We will keep your CV in our system and may contact you regarding relevant roles or invitations to technical events in the future.

If new roles are posted for Uber Aarhus that match your interests, we encourage you to apply again so we know you are interested in that specific position. If you are curious about the work we do at Uber Aarhus, please read more on our blog or sign up for our talent community.
