Backend software engineer at Anysphere (Cursor) owning shared services between product surfaces and infrastructure — authentication, webhooks, and backend systems for agent workflows. Day to day involves designing scalable auth architecture, building a high-throughput webhook server, and improving end-to-end agent reliability.
You will own shared services between product surfaces and infrastructure, including authentication, webhooks, and backend systems for agent workflows. You will build scalable, reliable service foundations, harden source-control integrations, and improve end-to-end agent performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable authentication architecture
Own infrastructure supporting agent workflows
Build a high-throughput webhook server with retries, dead-letter queues, and observability
Build resilient abstractions over source-control providers
Improve end-to-end agent reliability with client and inference teams
Requirements
Experience building and operating critical backend services
Experience with authentication systems, API gateways, or webhook infrastructure
Experience with agentic products or infrastructure
Knowledge of reliability and performance for complex multi-step systems
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, RBAC, event-driven architecture, or developer-facing platform services
