Builds and maintains scalable backend/frontend systems for Avalara’s global excise tax compliance platform, integrating AI to improve workflows, automation, and system reliability while mentoring peers and driving architectural decisions.
Avalara’s Excise compliance platform processes tax filings across the US, Canada, and Europe, supporting thousands of customers with complex, jurisdiction-specific return and eFile requirements. As part of this team, you will play a direct role as Avalara accelerates its AI-first engineering strategy. You will help expand Excise form coverage, improve platform reliability, and embed AI-assisted development into the team's daily workflows to increase engineering velocity. This role involves improving not only what we build, but how work gets done—strengthening architectural discipline and setting new standards for execution.
Casual AI usage is insufficient. AI must materially improve outcomes.
