Full-time .NET software developer building, maintaining, and modernising business-critical applications across modern and legacy stacks — C#, .NET/ASP.NET MVC and Blazor, Azure, and SQL Server — within a collaborative Agile team. Role is 37.5 hrs/week, hybrid or office-based, reporting to a Scrum Master.
Salary: £40,000 - 50,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
- Experience supporting and integrating with legacy systems, including older .NET Framework applications and Windows Services.
- Strong proficiency with Visual Studio.
- Experience developing and maintaining web applications using ASP.NET MVC, Razor, or Blazor.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Desktop application development experience, such as WinForms.
- Experience with Entity Framework or EF Core.
- Solid understanding of SOLID principles and software design patterns.
- Ability to write clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Strong SQL Server development skills, including creating and maintaining tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
- Ability to write and optimise complex SQL queries, with experience in query performance tuning.
- Comfortable working with DDL and DML operations.
- Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience using Bootstrap or similar UI frameworks.
- Understanding of client-side and server-side validation techniques.
- Experience designing layered and service-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of Dependency Injection principles.
- Experience modernising and refactoring legacy applications.
- A-Level qualification or equivalent experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Passion for delivering high-quality software, commitment to security best practices, and comfort working across modern and legacy technology stacks.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions using agreed technologies and development standards.
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Produce clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
- Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of existing applications and services.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.
- Track development effort against estimates and provide regular progress updates.
- Deliver development work to agreed quality standards and timescales.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, estimation sessions, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise with colleagues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development team and wider technology function.
- Apply secure development principles and follow industry best practices to protect systems, applications, and data.
- Adhere to information security, data protection, compliance requirements, organisational policies, procedures, and development standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and support adherence to relevant regulatory and industry standards where applicable.
- Review and contribute to technical design and requirements documentation.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation relating to development activities.
- Support testing activities and ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
