We know that people want great value combined with an excellent experience from a bank they can trust, so we launched our digital bank, Chase, to revolutionize mobile banking with seamless journeys that our customers love. We're already trusted by millions in the US and we're quickly catching up in the United Kingdom — but how we do things here is a little different. We're building the bank of the future from scratch, where you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact.
As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the International Consumer Bank, you will lead a team building and operating a first-class observability capability across our cloud-native microservices. Collaborating closely with product, platform, and development teams, you will influence the technical roadmap, architect, standardize, and build resilient, cost-efficient tooling for metrics, logs, and traces telemetry data across all stages of the software delivery lifecycle — delivering end-to-end, cutting-edge solutions that enhance the developer experience.
Our Developer Experience team is at the heart of this venture, dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for all our engineers. We're looking for people who have a curious mindset, thrive in a collaborative environment, and are passionate about new technology. By nature, our people are solution-oriented, commercially savvy, and have a head for fintech. We work in tribes and squads that focus on specific products and projects — and depending on your strengths and interests, you'll have the opportunity to move between them.
While we're looking for professional skills, culture is just as important to us. We understand that everyone's unique — and that diversity of thought, experience, and background is what makes a good team great. By bringing people with different points of view together, we can represent everyone and truly reflect the communities we serve. This way, there's scope for you to make a huge difference — on us as a company, and on our clients and business partners around the world.

- Lead a team of engineers by setting clear technical direction, reviewing architecture designs and code, and actively mentoring and developing team members' skills
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance the developer experience, providing scalable tooling and infrastructure that supports multi-regional cloud-native services and software delivery at scale
- Drive multi-region standards for consistent instrumentation patterns, label nomenclature, and metric cardinality across services spanning multiple technologies
- Ensure compliance with firm security guidelines and regulatory expectations by implementing governance controls for data redaction, encryption, and audit capabilities to protect sensitive information
- Execute software solutions across design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond conventional approaches to break down complex technical problems
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met throughout code development
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
- Apply knowledge of tools within the software development lifecycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Proven leadership of engineering teams, including technical direction, architectural decision-making, mentoring, backlog prioritization, and stakeholder communication
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large-scale environment using one or more modern programming languages (such as Python) and database querying languages
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
- Knowledge of application resiliency, security principles, and emerging practices including agentic AI
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud or distributed systems
- Experience with public cloud services in production environments (such as AWS) including infrastructure as code tooling (such as Terraform)
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with developer tooling ecosystems such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform Cloud, and Slack
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud multi-region architectures in production environments
