Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Site Engineer on behalf of one of our clients, an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a wide range of projects.
The successful candidate will provide site engineering support across multiple projects within the region, taking responsibility for setting out, survey control and ensuring works are completed accurately in accordance with contract drawings, specifications and required standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable and motivated engineer to join an established business, contribute to the successful delivery of civil engineering projects and develop their career within the construction and infrastructure sector.
Our client is particularly keen to hear from ex-military personnel with relevant engineering, surveying or construction experience. The practical skills, discipline, problem-solving ability and experience of working under pressure gained through military service can be valuable assets in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish survey control, levels and setting-out points across projects.
- Set out construction works in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Carry out regular checks to ensure accuracy and quality of completed works.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries and allocation sheets.
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), task briefings and two-week look-ahead programmes.
- Coordinate with Site Agents and procurement teams to ensure materials and resources are available.
- Identify and resolve technical issues arising during construction.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Monitor work quality, helping to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards and free from defects.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and improved construction methods.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential
- Previous experience in setting out on civil engineering or construction projects.
- Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and relevant legislation.
- Competent in using robotic total stations, EDM instruments or similar surveying equipment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Self-motivated, results-driven and able to work effectively within a project team.
- Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
- Ex-military applicants with relevant engineering, surveying or construction experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Desirable
- Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Temporary Works Coordinator experience or relevant training.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Cable avoidance training.
- First aid qualification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
