Senior VMWare Platform Engineer
Remote based
Paying between 70,000-80,000, depending on experience.
We're recruiting for a Senior VMWare Platform Engineer to join a growing Platform Engineering team within a leading Managed Services Provider focused on VMware Cloud Foundation, private cloud, Kubernetes and automation technologies.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll help design, build and enhance enterprise cloud platforms, improve automation capabilities and provide technical leadership across complex infrastructure and managed service environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and support VMware-based cloud and managed service platforms.
- Deliver complex engineering projects across virtualisation, infrastructure and Kubernetes environments.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code, automation and CI/CD capabilities.
- Drive improvements in standardisation, operational efficiency and service reliability.
- Mentor engineers and act as a technical escalation point.
- Produce technical documentation, runbooks and operational standards.
- Work closely with Architecture, Operations and Delivery teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong VMware infrastructure experience.
- Hands-on Kubernetes administration and platform engineering experience.
- Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally Terraform and Kubernetes manifests.
- Experience with automation, scripting and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Knowledge of GitHub, GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Experience
- VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX and vSAN
- VMware Cloud Director
- Multi-tenant private cloud environments
- Linux administration
- Monitoring, observability and resilience engineering
