Senior Systems Engineer in Optus's Regulatory Projects team (Sydney) building, operating, and supporting on-premises regulatory/compliance systems that help Optus meet Telecommunications Act obligations, acting as liaison with government agencies. Core stack: Linux, Proxmox virtualization, Kubernetes (Rancher), Go and Rust, GitLab CI/CD, and Terraform/Ansible/Packer.
Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it’s easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.
Right now, Optus is focused on getting the fundamentals right - simplifying how we work, lifting standards, and building a more reliable, resilient experience for our customers.
It’s not about surface-level change. It’s about how we make decisions, how we work together, and how we deliver.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have a high level of technical expertise to support Optus in meeting a range of regulatory obligations. The role also requires strong stakeholder management skills, as the Senior Systems Engineer will regularly meet with representatives from government agencies, vendors and internal teams.
You will be responsible for supporting innovative technical solutions to address customer requirements and government initiatives through the solution’s life cycle.
