Senior Systems Analyst on a contract ($130–155/hour) supporting an Australian Government program migrating a nationally significant environmental modelling platform to Microsoft Azure. Day to day: reverse engineering legacy systems, analysing SQL Server/SSAS data models, tracing data lineage, and turning findings into technical specifications.
Salary: $130 - $155 p.h.
The Network are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to support a major Australian Government modernisation program, transforming a nationally significant environmental modelling platform from legacy technologies to a modern Microsoft Azure environment.
This is a technically focused role requiring strong experience in reverse engineering legacy systems, SQL Server, data modelling, data lineage and application analysis. You will work closely with architects, developers, data engineers and scientific specialists to understand existing systems and translate complex requirements into practical technical specifications.
Analyse and reverse engineer legacy applications, databases, integrations, business rules and calculation logic.
Investigate SQL Server databases, stored procedures, SSAS/OLAP cubes, dimensional models and reporting solutions.
Trace data flows, transformations and dependencies to identify data lineage, reconciliation issues and system behaviour.
Analyse .NET, C++, Python or similar codebases to understand application logic and undocumented functionality.
Produce technical specifications, data mappings, process flows, interface definitions and acceptance criteria.
Strong experience as a Technical Systems Analyst working on complex legacy system modernisation projects.
Advanced SQL skills, including database analysis, data modelling, stored procedures and data transformation logic.
Experience with SSAS/OLAP, data warehousing, dimensional modelling and analytical reporting systems.
Ability to investigate application codebases using .NET, C++, Python or similar technologies.
Strong documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, delivery-ready requirements.
Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake or scientific, environmental and geospatial modelling platforms.
If you are a technically strong Systems Analyst who enjoys understanding complex systems, uncovering undocumented business logic and supporting large-scale cloud modernisation, we would like to hear from you.
