Senior System Engineer within R&D and customer projects

Want to influence the bigger picture? At Saab, you can realise amazing innovations that keep people and societies safe. Together, we can truly make an impact – and your part matters.

Your role

As a system engineer you will be a crucial part of the Saab G1X system engineering team which is highly associated with a cross functional collaboration between customers, product managers, project managers, development and verification engineers.

In this role, Systems Engineering is the foundation of everything you do. You will take ownership of system-level work from requirements through to delivery with a strong focus on interpreting customer needs, ensuring alignment with our base product, and coordinating across disciplines such as integration, structure, and architecture rather than detailed component design. You will divide your time between customer deliveries and internal development tasks depending on current needs.

A key part of the role is to break down and interpret customer project requirements and apply them to our existing technical base product. This means translating customer-specific needs into structured system requirements, ensuring they align with our platform architecture and technical capabilities, while maintaining traceability and supporting reuse across projects.

The role is based in Mölnlycke.

Your profile

To succeed in this role, you combine strong systems engineering expertise with a holistic mindset and the ability to drive complex technical work forward. You are comfortable navigating both technical and organizational interfaces, translating customer needs into robust solutions while fostering collaboration across teams. With a proactive and structured approach, you take ownership of your work and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

We believe you have:

• Solid experience in Systems Engineering, preferably using the V-model, and a strong educational background in engineering.
• A broad system perspective and the ability to understand, analyze, and optimize complete solutions, including interfaces and system dependencies.
• Proven experience working with requirements throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Experience in process-oriented development and coordination of roles such as Integration and Verification lead and other sub system leads.
• Excellent communication skills, including technical writing in both Swedish and English.
• Experience working in international and cross-functional environments, collaborating effectively across cultures and disciplines.
• Strong leadership qualities and business awareness, with a proven ability to take initiative, drive activities forward, and coordinate task forces when needed.
• A passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• The flexibility to travel when needed.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
