Senior, Software Engineering (AEM + Workfront/Fusion)

WHY DEPT?

We are a Growth Invention company built to help the world’s most ambitious brands grow faster. Operating at the intersection of technology and marketing, we create what is next by pioneering ideas, acting fast, and moving further because standing still just is not in our DNA.

We are drawn to people who stay curious, move with intent, and never stop inventing. Our culture runs on three values: better together, relentlessly curious, and get sh*t done. It is how we work, how we grow, and how we make things that matter.

At DEPT®, you will find the freedom to explore, the space to collaborate, and the trust to make a real impact for our clients, for each other, and for the world we are helping to build.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (P2), Workfront + AEM to help our clients' marketing and creative teams get their work done in one place. You'll be the backend developer who builds Adobe Workfront and Workfront Fusion solutions, and you know your way around AEM backend code too. Your work keeps requests, reviews, and approvals moving, and keeps Workfront talking to AEM and the rest of the client's tools. You'll report into our Software Engineering practice in the US.

You'll work alongside a Tech Lead/Principal Software Engineer, CMS (AEM) Architect, AEM engineers, QA, and client stakeholders. You don't need to know every corner of Adobe on day one. Good engineering habits and real curiosity about how the Adobe pieces fit together matter more.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own your work end to end. Take a loosely defined problem, ask the right questions, plan and estimate it, then build, test, launch, and support it.
• Set up Workfront the way teams actually work. Turn a client's process into templates, request queues, custom forms, approvals, proofing, access levels, and reports.
• Build Fusion integrations that last. Connect Workfront to AEM, other Adobe products, and third-party tools, and handle errors so things keep running in production.
• Link Workfront and AEM Assets. Set up linked folders, metadata mapping, and asset workflows so approved work lands in the DAM without anyone chasing it.
• Write AEM backend code. Build workflows, Sling Models, servlets, OSGi services, and APIs that support the integration and other AEM work.
• Find the real cause. Test against real use cases, and when something breaks, dig into logs, Fusion execution history, and API responses until you know why.
• Help people adopt it. Write down decisions, create simple guides for users and admins, and be the go-to Workfront person for client teams.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3+ years of software development experience building backend systems or integrations, including work management or business process projects for large organizations (5,000+ employees).
• 2+ years of hands-on Adobe Workfront project experience, including templates, custom forms, Workfront Fusion integrations, and connecting Workfront to a DAM such as AEM Assets.
• 1+ year of hands-on AEM backend development with Java, Sling, OSGi, Sling Models, servlets, workflows, and Maven.
• Adobe certified in Workfront and Workfront Fusion
• Proven experience working with REST and GraphQL APIs, JSON, and authentication when connecting to outside services.
• Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI productivity tools (such as Gemini CLI, Claude)
• Proven experience turning a business process into something that works and writing it down clearly. We'd love to see examples if you have them.
• Familiarity with best practices using Git, pull requests, automated builds, and testing practices.
The ability to take an ambiguous problem, research independently, read logs, and debug
• The patience to dig into a problem on your own, read the logs, and trace it across Workfront, Fusion, AEM, and the systems in between.
• You're easy to work with. You’re an excellent communicator, take direction, push back respectfully when you disagree, speak up when you're stuck, and choose simple solutions instead of overbuilding in case you need it.

NICE TO HAVE

• Exposure to Workfront Planning, Frame.io, Creative Cloud for Enterprise, Marketo, or AEP.
• Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service, Edge Delivery Services, the Universal Editor, App Builder, or Cloud Manager.
• You've delivered AEM websites or worked on an AEM migration.
• Adobe certification in AEM Sites, AEM Assets is a plus.
• Experience helping teams through change or running user training.
• Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI productivity tools (such as Gemini CLI, Claude Code, or Codex) within your development workflow, alongside the drive to push their boundaries to accelerate team delivery.
• A practical understanding of core LLM concepts and the judgment to identify where AI solutions create real value.

HOW WE WILL KNOW YOU'RE SUCCEEDING

• Client teams use what you built, and work moves from request to approved asset in AEM without workarounds.
• Your Fusion scenarios and AEM code run reliably in production.
• Teammates can read, test, and build on your code and configuration.
• You can explain how the things you build behave and what they affect.
• Over time, you take on bigger and messier problems.
