About Megaport
We’re not your typical tech company – and we don’t want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 600 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.
Our Team Culture
We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.
We’re committed to increasing representation in the tech industry and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Don’t meet every requirement? That’s okay. If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply.
Your Role
Come join us as a key contributor in improving Megaport’s internal developer experience. Sitting within the Platform Engineering team, as a Go developer, you will design, develop, and maintain the tools and APIs that power our engineering organization.
You will focus on building robust, Go-based backend services and CLI tooling that automate operational workflows, streamline access management, and ensure our systems adhere to global engineering standards at scale.
Only candidates residing in Australia or New Zealand will be considered for this role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop Internal Developer Tooling: Build high-performance Go-based APIs, microservices, and CLI tools that reduce friction, automate manual processes, and enhance productivity for our engineering teams.
- Engineer Scalable Automation: Design and implement systems that orchestrate workflows between our systems of record, SaaS platforms, and internal infrastructure.
- Implement Governance-as-Code: Design and maintain automated systems for repository and service oversight, ensuring our engineering ecosystem remains consistent, secure, and aligned with organizational standards as we scale.
- Build Self-Service Infrastructure: Create and maintain the automated interfaces and abstractions that allow teams to request and manage infrastructure resources securely without Platform team intervention.
- Operate and Optimize: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and maintain reliable, Go-based backend systems hosted on Kubernetes/EKS. Take ownership of performance profiling and tuning to ensure platform responsiveness and reliability.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven professional experience as a Backend Engineer using Go.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience with building services on top of Kubernetes.
- Solid knowledge of scalable web service development, including RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in designing and consuming APIs, including managing authentication and authorization protocols.
- Proficiency in database management, with hands-on experience in optimizing database performance, designing schemas, and query optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with performance profiling and debugging tools to optimize system performance.
- Experience managing infrastructure on AWS and working with GitHub as a core platform.
- Solid understanding of version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/delivery.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience building internal developer-facing tools or CLI applications.
- Passion for 'Platform as a Product'—you enjoy identifying bottlenecks in the developer lifecycle and building automated solutions to solve them.
