Senior Software Engineer - Engineering Productivity @ Starburst Data Polska

About the Team

The Engineering Productivity team is what makes Starburst's engineering organization move fast without breaking things. We own the tooling, processes, and infrastructure that let every other engineering team ship confidently, operate reliably, and spend company resources wisely — so they can focus on building product rather than fighting their environment.

Our remit spans five core areas:

• CI/CD — We build and maintain the pipelines and developer tooling that take code from commit to production, focusing on speed, reliability, and a frictionless developer experience.
• Reliability & Incident Response — We drive how the organization detects, responds to, and learns from production incidents, helping teams build more resilient systems and continuously improve our operational maturity.
• FinOps — We bring visibility and discipline to cloud spend, partnering with engineering teams to optimize cost without slowing down innovation.
• Vendor Management — We own the relationships and processes behind the third-party tools and services engineering relies on, ensuring we get the right tools at the right terms.
• Cloud Governance — We set the guardrails, standards, and policies that keep our multi-cloud footprint secure, compliant, and well-architected as the company scales.

• Passion for software engineering, an interest in Infrastructure Engineering in particular
• Cloud infrastructure architecture and orchestration experience
• Experience developing software in Java and Typescript
• Good knowledge of Kubernetes
• Experience with infrastructure as code and related tooling such as Pulumi or Terraform
• Prior experience in developing for or operating Trino is a huge plus
• Demonstration of ownership, grit, and bias for action - core values at Starburst
• Ability to Travel: This role will require occasional in-person travel for purposes including but not limited to new hire onboarding, team and department offsites, customer engagements, and other company events. Actual travel expectations may vary by role and business needs.
