We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Distributed Infrastructure team in Warsaw.
You will design, build, and own scalable, production-grade backend systems that power critical operations at global scale. This role sits at the heart of our infrastructure - distributed systems, backend architecture, high-availability services, and internal tooling - working closely with product, operations, and engineering teams worldwide.
If you've scaled systems that handle millions of requests, you enjoy deep technical ownership, and you thrive in environments where engineering quality is taken seriously - read on.
Total Annual Compensation (Base + Bonus + Equity where applicable):
- Senior Engineer: 316,000 – 460,000 PLN gross
- Senior+ / Tech Lead: 430,000 – 630,000 PLN gross
- Staff Engineer: 680,000 – 860,000 PLN gross
Final level and offer depend on experience, technical scope, and interview performance.
- Free meals in the office
- Equity / long-term incentive component (role dependent)
- 100% covered medical & dental — family included
- Multisport / fitness card
- Annual training & conference budget
- Relocation package (up to 30,000 PLN, where applicable)
- Paid vacation per Polish labor law
- Hybrid model: 3 flexible in-office days per week, agreed within your team
- Modern office space in Warsaw
- Flexible working hours agreed with your manager
- Pragmatic agile — 2-week iterations, no rigid Scrum
- Two structured US collaboration days per week (planned in advance, occasionally until 9–10pm)
- Fridays: no US meetings
- No mandatory lunch break
- Real engineering ownership and architectural influence — not ticket-pushing
- Systems that operate at global scale and genuinely matter
- Strong engineering culture: quality, pragmatism, no bureaucracy
- Clear growth path toward Lead, Staff, and beyond — aligned with global tech leveling standards
- 5+ years of experience building backend or infrastructure systems
- Strong proficiency in at least one of: C++, Python, or Java
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data storage, and system design at scale
- Experience delivering production systems in high-traffic, reliability-critical environments
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to navigate ambiguous problems
- Professional English (B2+)
Nice to have:
- Experience at companies with large-scale distributed infrastructure (e.g. Snowflake, Netflix, Atlassian, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Bolt, Samsung R&D, Akamai, or similar)
- Background in high-availability or mission-critical systems
- Experience working cross-functionally with non-engineering stakeholders
- Exposure to logistics, autonomous systems, or large-scale platform engineering
- Experience with embedded systems, image processing, or computer vision
Note on C++: If your systems background is strong but you haven't worked extensively in C++ — we expect you to ramp up quickly. Strong fundamentals matter more than a specific language.
We value strong engineering education - degrees in Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunications, or related fields from technical universities. Practical experience and the ability to operate at scale matter most.
