Senior Software Engineer

Compensation: $130,000-$200,000 per year
Location: Omaha, NE – Hybrid or United States - Remote

We’re always looking for great software engineers who want to shape the future of construction technology!

This posting is part of our ongoing effort to build a pipeline of talented professionals for current or future opportunities. While hiring needs may not be immediate, we welcome your application. We review applications on an ongoing basis and will reach out if your experience aligns with a future opening.

The job:
As a Senior Software Engineer at Buildertrend, you'll help shape the future of construction technology and build the tools that construction professionals rely on to run their businesses, to work smarter, move faster, and deliver with confidence. You're not here to just execute tickets; you're here to make an impact. You'll work closely with our customers, and when something you ship makes their day easier, you'll hear about it. Your technical expertise will not only shape our products but also play a crucial role in delivering solutions that make a lasting impact on how construction teams work and succeed.

What you will do:

• Talk to our customers, and turn what you hear into technical solutions you drive through design, development, and delivery.
• Write clean, maintainable code while maintaining high standards for performance and reliability as the platform scales.
• Push back on solutions that are technically clean but don't solve the real customer problem, and make the case for the ones that do.
• Lead code reviews and mentor engineers, helping strengthen engineering practices across the team.
• Identify and advocate for improvements that make the platform stronger over time.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to planning, retrospectives, and other agile practices that support consistent delivery.

Who you are and what you need:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field, or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years of experience building production software; taking ownership of problems from discovery to delivery, and driving solutions to completion.
• Prior experience at a B2B SaaS company, ideally where you’ve worked through scaling and reliability problems.
• Strong hands-on experience with React and C#/.NET.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering, using it to work faster without sacrificing quality.
• Strong understanding and experience with software design patterns and modern development practices (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
• Measure success by whether the solution actually works for the customer, not just whether it shipped.
• Contribute to a strong engineering environment by sharing knowledge, supporting and mentoring teammates, and helping raise technical standards.

We are giving you:

• Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits
• A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future
• Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, plus personal days to make sure you have time to recharge
• Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life’s big moments
• Volunteer time off – because giving back matters
• Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best
• Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need
• Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home
• Free daily lunches when you're at our HQ office, plus monthly events to connect with your team
