Senior Software Engineer

In Applied Sensing and Health (AS&H), we develop real time algorithms fusing different sensing modalities to infer impactful metrics, detect meaningful events or project enlightening insights, that we present to our users in the clearest and most beautiful way. To cite a few, ASH has built: VO2max metrics, a state of the art measure of your health level you can find in the Health app... Fall and Crash detection, features that are saving lives of Apple Watch and iPhone users across the planet... Journaling Suggestions, a feature that understands how you go about your day and surfaces personalized content you can bootstrap your journaling experience with... and many more, and even more to come! Our sensing-based features are designed close to the silicon and firmware layers, and span across many platforms. We deliver end to end experiences in health and wellbeing, that require full stack systems software expertise from sensing and algorithms to the user interface. Our North Star is delivering the best possible feature for our customers with strong product definition and data-driven validation. Our software supports the design of data collection and prototyping apps to drive forward the science and development of sensing-based metrics like VO2max, crash detection and more.

As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple's customers every single day. Come be part of the adventure and work on life changing features for our users!

Roles and responsibilities include architecting, implementing and maintaining user experiences across platforms for the features we deliver to the world. You will work closely with scientists, engineers, QA, study and project managers throughout the software lifecycle in successfully delivering best-in-class application and experiences. When relevant, you will also design and contribute to APIs to help expose our metrics to third party developers or internal cross functional teams. You will work collaboratively on large projects with many other software engineers and functions, like human design, hardware sensing, AI/ML and others.

Most importantly, you will help ship interactive features that impact millions of users on a daily basis. You take responsibility; you can demonstrate creativity, initiative, and the ability to work to deadlines. You feel a personal stake in the product you ship. You thrive in uncertainty and strive to bring order to it. You keep your eye on the ball; you build strong relationships; and you are constantly looking to improve yourself and your team.
